New for 2019, the Kimber EVO SP (Striker Pistol) was designed to be the ultimate metal framed concealed carry pistol. The EVO SP has a completely snag free design with some new innovative features along with all the upgrades you’d expect to find in a high-end pistol. The EVO SP is now available in 6 different configurations: TT (Two tone), CS (Custom Shop), TLE (Tactical Law Enforcement), CDP (Custom Defense Package), Raptor, and Select – all chambered in 9mm. Each EVO SP comes with a soft sided pistol case, two 7-round magazines, and a standard gun lock.
The EVO SP is built on an aluminum alloy frame fitted to an FNC (Melonite) coated stainless steel slide and a bushingless, 3.16-inch, stainless, match grade, deep crown barrel. Tritium night sights come standard on all models with an integrated rear ledge for one handed manipulation. Kimber added a flared ejection port to the slide for enhanced ejection, and a flared magazine well for faster reloads. The slide features contoured edges, and front and rear serrations with milled lines on top to reduce glare. The back plate includes a striker indicator for visual and physical confirmation the gun is cocked.
All models have Kimber’s new innovative grip system, eliminating the need for specialty hardware and worry about over-tightening screws. The back strap has a set screw on the bottom and when loosened, it slides downward allowing the grip panels or back strap to be replaced without any extra hardware. Only the TT model currently comes with optional back strap and grip sizes. G10 grips come standard on the TLE model while the TT ships with nylon grips.
The TLE and TT come with 30 LPI front strap serrations for added grip control. A premium aluminum curved trigger with integrated blade safety is set from the factory between 6-7 lbs. It has a smooth trigger pull with a crisp break and short reset. The 7-round magazines feature a finger extension base plate for extended grip length. The EVO SP can be field stripped without the need of depressing the trigger.
MSRP on the TT is $856, and the TLE is $925, but you can find one on GunsAmerica from your local dealer for less.
