A woman fatally shot during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation in Minneapolis has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, according to the Star Tribune.
Reporting from the scene, NBC News correspondent Maggie Vespa said multiple U.S. officials and lawmakers confirmed Good was a U.S. citizen. And she was not the target of the ICE operation underway at the time of the shooting.
Local officials emphasized that point as protests quickly formed near the intersection where the incident occurred.
According to the Trump administration, the ICE officer involved fired in self-defense after Good drove her vehicle toward him. They called it an act of “domestic terrorism.”
Today, in an act of domestic terrorism, an anti-ICE rioter weaponized her vehicle against law enforcement. Our officer relied on his training and saved his own life, as well as the lives of his fellow officers.

Vespa reported that demonstrators at the scene consistently rejected the administration’s characterization.
Witnesses told the station they did not see an attempt to strike an officer. Instead, they said the footage appears to show Good attempting to steer away and flee as multiple officers surrounded her vehicle.

Good’s mother told the Star Tribune that the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death were “so stupid.” She added that she believed her daughter was likely terrified in the moments leading up to the shooting.
As protests grew throughout the day, demonstrators repeatedly chanted Good’s name. They shared and discussed the video footage among themselves.

Charles Willie Winslow II says he first started working with Good in April 2021, when she began shooting sports games with him at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
Winslow also traveled to New York City with Good, whom he said brought other photographers to tears while asking for the stories of the homeless subjects they photographed on the streets
One professional photographer who worked alongside Renee Nicole Good before the 37-year-old was shot and killed by an ICE officer in Minneapolis this week is remembering the mother of three for her compassion and kindness.
Charles Willie Winslow II tells PEOPLE that Good was “an angel” and “a perfect person.” Winslow, 61, who was born and raised in New York, regularly travels to New York City with a group of non-professional photographers to take pictures across the five boroughs. Good joined one such trip in winter 2022, where Winslow and the others photographed homeless New Yorkers at night.
Winslow says the photos the group took were shared with the American Civil Liberties Union in New York, “but it was mainly to bring awareness to the homelessness in New York, the streets of New York.”
“We would ask them if we could shoot them, and then we would give them money. Anywhere between $5 and $10,” he says. However, the group began providing food for their subjects when Good came up with the idea to purchase hamburgers “in bulk” for them.
“She would have this big giant thermos, which was heavier than anyone’s camera, carrying that around,” Winslow adds. “And we’d have cups and we would give them food and drink while they were sitting there or laying there.”
Good’s trip to New York with Winslow was her first time in the city, and “it was so emotional for her,” he recalls. “She started crying. By the time we got to the first or second person that was laying on the street, she had everyone else crying, just because of how emotional she was about it.”
Although the group was only visiting New York City for 24 hours, Good “didn’t want to leave,” he says. “She wanted to stay there. We were all freezing to death … But she wanted to stay and keep feeding the homeless and she wanted to know their stories,” he remembers.
Winslow says Good would ask questions while shooting the subjects, telling PEOPLE, “It was like she just wanted to naturally interview them there and wanted to know their whole life story.”
“I’ve never done that in the years that I’ve been going to New York, taking photographers there. I never asked them their story because then I’ll get emotional,” he says, adding, “But she wants to know people’s story.”
More video shows her and her “Wife” mocking the ICE agent shortly before the shooting. Her “wife” told her to drive which she did straight at the officer. Totally justified shooting.

AND, she was part of a group of people called ICE Watch that follows them around to harass and prevent them from carrying out their duties. No, not justified. I’ve watched videos now from 6 different angles, one with stop motion. She was trying to leave and did not in anyway shape or form attempt to hit the agent. The agent was drawing his weapon before she even started to escape. He purposely put himself in a position in front of the vehicle but where he could easily take one or 2 steps and be completely out of the way. The first shot was from the driver’s fender the other 2 were point black thru the driver’s window. I do not believe this was a justified shooting. In fact I might call it murder. ,

It seems that you’ve forgotten about an interesting feature of an automobile called the steering wheel. When something is coming towards the front of your vehicle, your steering wheel is turned all the way to the right, and you press on the gas, which way does your vehicle go?

Based on the video footage available here it’s justified.
She had been following the ICE agents and doing whatever she could to obstruct them. They chose not to arrest her then but she finally pushed them too far. When she attempted to once again interfere with their duties they exited their vehicles to arrest her she decided to flee instead.
She quickly put her truck in reverse and turned it. It was now facing an agent that moments before been approaching the rear of her vehicle. She hit the accelerator and her vehicle drove right at him. Whether she intended to hit him or didn’t realize he was there until after she hit the gas is irrelevant, she was speeding towards him in a deadly weapon.
The agent is seen trying to quickly walkbackwards on the icy road and trying not to fall as the front left of her vehicle shoots towards him. My opinion could always change with more evidence provided but based on the currently available footage this is a justified shooting.
Hopefully they will release more video and audio which will give more context and a better view.

It’s irrelevant if she had just dropped her kid off. At the time of the shooting she and another anti-ICE activist were parked sideways in the street blocking traffic while one of the two women walked around the vehicle trying to taunt the agents while videoing with her phone.
When the agents exited their vehicles they gave her lawful commands to exit the vehicle. One agent approaching from the other side found himself in front of the vehicle as she attempts to escape. The woman put the truck in reverse and quickly turned it to drive away. The agent that was in the back was now in front of her vehicle as she quickly accelerates as he staggers backwards to try and avoid being run over and shoots.
A. This woman was an anti-ICE activist who was there specifically to interfere with the lawful duties of federal agents. She was NOT just a random mom who had just dropped her kid off at school and had no idea what was happening. Those are lies spread by the liberal media and are clearly contradicted by the additional video which they refuse to show on their perspective channels.
B. Anyone, who drives a vehicle, which is a deadly weapon, at a law enforcement officer for any reason, will likely be shot and justifiably so.

The shooting of Mrs Good was an unnecessary act of aggression by an ICE officer with a history of questionable behavior. Additionally, this officer was not fit for duty as he A) suffers from PTSD, and B) is recovering from a prior physical injury. He should never have been on the job! For our President to attempt to make a hero out of him and justify his negligent actions is absurd. For law enforcement to support this officers actions is a blatant error which if justice prevails, will end up badly for ICE and everyone that supports the officers actions. Accountability must occur here. Blame must be accurately placed. Punishments must be given.

Based on viewing the video, I think it is clear that she was attempting to leave and get away from ICE, not attempting to strike an officer. I hate to say it, but I stopped believing what federal officials say some time ago. The current bunch seem even less trustworthy than the prior crew.

No, it was not justified. Video clearly shows victim attempting to drive away from the scene, not run anyone over. In our concealed carry class it was drummed into us that you only shoot if there is an imminent threat of severe bodily harm or death from the perpetrator. That was not the case in this instance. The officer should be charged.

This is a tough one… I think I’ve seen every piece of footage thus far and I disagree with the shooting. She was steering away from the officer in front of her vehicle who was on the driver side front and could easily step out of the way even if she had not turned the wheel hard to the right. Now onto the common sense aspect of this… I don’t know why it’s so difficult for an adult brain to understand that they are messing with law enforcement agents. Lots of emotion when cold, objective evaluation is what we need. What I see, after watching the available video dozens of times and in slow motion, is Good trying to escape the situation and possibly trying to avoid arrest. It does not appear that she was trying to run anyone over or hit them with her vehicle. The ICE officer (I will not use his name though he has been identified) probably heard the commands given to Good and observed a vehicle rapidly accelerating in his general direction. As such he was in reasonable fear of his safety. Good did stupid things and won a stupid prize.
The day of Good’s death, a woman was interviewed who said that Good was the leader of their car caravan that was trying to disrupt ICE operations. Good’s mother and best friend may well be correct in her being the kindest and most caring person in the world. That may explain her compassion for illegally present aliens and violent criminals. But that does not exonerate her for actions taken that fateful day.

Maybe, I am willing to let an investigation unfold before I form a final opinion. I do NOT like the discharge of a weapon under those circumstances where Good could have been apprehended without her death and the endangerment of several LEO’s and other bystanders was avoidable.
