SIG SAUER just scored another big win in the law enforcement market. The company announced today that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has extended its existing contract for the P320 duty pistol another two years, through July 2027.

The original contract, awarded in 2017, made the modular, striker-fired P320 the official sidearm for ICE agents, who carry it daily across some of the most challenging operational environments in the Department of Homeland Security.

“SIG SAUER is honored to continue supporting ICE in their duty to protect America and preserve national security and public safety,” said Steve Rose, Executive Vice President of Defense Strategies at SIG SAUER.

“ICE agents work tirelessly to safeguard our nation and deserve the most tested and proven sidearm by their side – we firmly believe that is the P320,” he added.

The P320 was selected after ICE ran it through a demanding competitive evaluation to ensure it met agency standards for reliability, durability, safety, and environmental performance.

SIG says it’s proud to keep providing ICE agents with a trusted sidearm as they carry out critical missions at home and abroad.

If I were in charge of the issuing agency, I would require Sig to also provide lights and holsters. That way if an accidental discharge occurs while the gun is holstered, Sig is solely responsible for the failure.

DHS/ICE has quietly withdrawn authorization for the P320 and all variants. All personnel currently issued the P320-series pistols will be issued Glock 19s.

    Ah the power of money.

The P320 UD’s are well documented, plain and simple. Anyone denying this is simply willfully ignorant.

      They are well reported.

But the ‘why’ is still up in the air. If the Why exists, and can be proven, Sig would have been sued into bankruptcy by now.

No way Id carry that thing. Everyone says, “well I never had a problem with mine” Well yeah, no kidding. You wont untill it happens. Hopefully it dont kill ya.

Let them shoot themselves in the foot… They might learn something.

Take this with a grain of salt, but it just might turn out that the recent Airforce fatal incident was a case of FAFO with a loaded M18, not a UD discharge. Allegedly, the M18 was pointed, trigger was deliberately pulled. Once again, grain of salt, but the story is spreading through a lot of sources, and some AF commands have already put the M18 back in service.

Lots of ICE agents gonna be carrying in condition three for the next couple of years.

    L O L

Maybe the SIG 320 issue is hugely overblown.
    Or not, who knows…

So politicians are unconcerned that their agencies are armed with a handgun that fires by itself. Must be more concerned about the kickbacks.$$$

I think it’s more of a case of “Oh crap! We just spent a crap ton of money on these things now we gotta make them work.” This is especially true given how sketchy the “trials” were conducted. I mean everyone was wondering how the P320 beat out both the Beretta M92A3 and the Glock G19X, both objectively superior arms. Apparently it’s cover up time.

I always wonder at how few reported uncommanded firing instances ICE has. It is almost as if the gun is generally safe, and every yahoo with an ND is blaming the gun, instead of taking responsibility.

    • Rayzor1 August 1, 2025, 7:28 am

So officers are only unable to properly handle sig p320 handgun. Right. You gun tubers need to get a clue. I watched the same behavior when the Beretta was adopted slides were blowing off the guns with less than 2k rounds through them and when gen 4 Glocks were malfunctioning. Trying to blame it on the ammo. No credibility.

      • Fridericus Rex August 1, 2025, 9:56 am

No one is trying to blame the ammo. I want to know how rank and file cops are having uncommanded discharges, yet ICE, with their critical mission, thinks the Sig is just fine for another two years?

    • Davron August 1, 2025, 9:28 am

A gun can be generally safe and still have a design flaw which allows stacked tolerances to cause unintentional discharges. Given that I’ve sent 5 of my last 8 Sigs back to them to rework due to poor QC over the past 10 years, with 3 having issues that either caused failure to fire or jams, I think stacked tolerances isn’t that far fetched. They’ve had stealth redesigns/modifications of the internal components throughout the years, which never happens with the P22x line.

      • Fridericus Rex August 1, 2025, 9:57 am

I am open to being shown that the Sig is a defective design. With all of these reports, the gun industry and press have been pouring over the design for five years… Why has no one been able to figure out what the real issue is?

        • Big Al 45LC August 1, 2025, 1:50 pm

Youtube, and many other places as well, have shown actual testing and UD’s. Where have you been? It is WELL ESTABLISHED, period.
I will NOT buy a Sig product JUST because they refuse to face this.

          • Fridericus Rex August 1, 2025, 4:12 pm

‘Well reported,’ and ‘well established,’ are two wildly different things.

  • Aj August 1, 2025, 6:51 am

What are they thinking?!? Imagine what would happen if while conducting these deportation arrests, a P320 goes off and hits an illegal.

  • Brian Smith August 1, 2025, 6:20 am

    LOL!
