Garmin’s Alpha 300 Series are tools for tracking and training dogs, and they offer significant upgrades over previous models.
Alpha 300 & 300i
You can track up to 20 dogs with one handheld device, and the range is up to 9 miles. The new handheld has a 3.5″ touch screen and includes 6 buttons. That means you don’t have to remove your gloves for all the operations.
You can view maps and download specific areas over WIFI for more detail. Even using maps, the battery life is over 50 hours, and users can change the battery themselves if it wears out.
Garmin’s Alpha 300 also shows you all kinds of metrics about the hunt. You can see where the dogs are, how far they’ve gone, when they point or tree, etc. Although it’ll monitor 20 dogs during the hunt, you can store 250 dog profiles to call up.
What’s more, the Alpha 300i includes InReach connectivity. That gives you access to Garmin’s established SOS system. It’s worldwide, and it’s been in use for decades. It is significantly better than your smartphone’s SOS.
Whether you have TT15x collars, or the brand new T20 and TT25 collars, the Alpha 300 is backwards compatible.

Alpha T20 & TT25 Collars
The new T20 and TT25 collars are slimmer than their predecessors and they are built to fit all breeds without buying different sizes. Although they can update as often as every 2.5 seconds, they utilize “dynamic tracking” that extends battery life. Also, the batteries are rechargeable and user-replaceable.
You can track with the T20 or you can track and train with the TT25. It has tone and 18 levels of vibration. Interestingly, both models have LEDs that you can set to various colors so you can see which dog is which in the dark.
Garmin’s new Alpha 300 and 300i handhelds are available now for $799 and $849. The T20 and TT25 collars are $299 and $349. And you can get them in package deals, too.
