In the wake of a tragic mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school, firearms influencer and congressional candidate Brandon Herrera, known online as The AK Guy, stepped forward to address his unexpected and disturbing association with the suspect.
Herrera’s mention came in a now-deleted manifesto video posted by the suspected shooter before the attack.
In it, the shooter falsely claimed to have met Herrera at the 2024 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, and urged viewers to “vote for Brandon Herrera for president.”
The video was part of the suspect’s broader, hateful rant that prefaced a deadly assault during a church Mass that killed two children and injured 17 others—an act law enforcement is investigating as a hate crime and domestic terrorism.
Herrera Denounces the Attack, Denies the Claim
Herrera responded swiftly and forcefully. “I’m horrified by this clearly hate‑motivated attack on innocent children and disgusted that my name came out of this demon’s mouth,” he said in a statement described to Fox News.

He emphasized that he has no memory of ever meeting the individual, and noted that neither he nor the SHOT Show organizers could find any record of the shooter attending the event.
Further condemning the shooting in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Herrera declared:
I will not, nor will I ever say the name of the gutless coward who decided to take the lives of innocent people in Minneapolis today.

If I recall correctly, the the attempted Trump shooter in Butler PA wore a Demolition Ranch shirt. Like Herrera, there’s no actual connection to the firearm video celebrities; the idiots are just trying to siphon off a bit of celebrity status to further their own infamous criminal acts. Based on past reporting; the more outrageous things in manifesto’s or painted on the firearms get additional press coverage and that is really the only thing these criminals want: Headlines.
There are times when I think these shooters true intent is create an act so that it promotes sticker gun laws leading to confiscation.
