GOA: Gun Control Could Pass Congress THIS MONTH!

As we approach the next government shutdown deadline, the 2A community is gearing up for a fight. Gun Owners of America (GOA) sees this moment as an opportunity to push their (our) priorities into law, and they’re rallying support to get the job done.

Ben, host of GOA’s “Minute Man Moment,” laid out the stakes in a recent video (see below).

Looking back at GOA’s previous victories, Ben highlighted how their lobbying efforts led to significant budget cuts to the ATF, resulting in the cancellation of an entire class of agents.

GOA also successfully halted the “veterans fiduciary rule,” which had prevented around 250,000 veterans from exercising their Second Amendment rights.

According to Ben, these wins proved that defunding parts of the ATF wouldn’t cause chaos, as some had feared, and that the fiduciary rule was nothing more than anti-gun propaganda aimed at disarming veterans.

With a new government funding deadline looming on September 30, Ben warns of a repeat battle. Congress will have just three weeks to pass the necessary spending bills after returning from their August recess.

The clock is ticking, and many expect lawmakers will be forced to pass a “continuing resolution” (CR), a temporary funding measure that kicks the can down the road.

Ben explains the potential dangers for gun owners, particularly if Congress uses a lame-duck session—after the elections but before new representatives are sworn in—to pass a harmful funding bill.

He pointed out that during the last lame-duck session in 2022, outgoing lawmakers passed anti-gun provisions, including increased ATF funding, support for red flag laws, and measures to undermine veterans’ gun rights.

This time, however, Ben believes gun owners have a chance to fight back. GOA is working with Congressman Chip Roy and the House Freedom Caucus to push the “Save Act” as part of any CR.

The Save Act requires proof of citizenship for federal voting, which they see as a way to protect election integrity. The bill has already passed the House, and GOA is pushing for it to be included in the next CR.

While House Speaker Mike Johnson seems open to the plan, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has opposed it, causing concern among gun rights activists.

Despite the challenges, GOA remains optimistic and continues to urge supporters to contact their representatives and senators, emphasizing the importance of protecting both gun rights and election integrity.

With GOA’s federal affairs team on the ground in Washington, the battle over government funding and gun rights is heating up. Ben closed his video by encouraging viewers to stay involved and support GOA’s fight for the Second Amendment.
