The Inception Shotgun Shell
Published: October 17, 2014 { 32 comments }Heard of the movie “Inception”? Well, this is DemolitionRanch’s version of that, as he describes it, “A shell within a shell within a shell.”
Parallax Tactical’s Long Slim Forends
Published: October 8, 2014 { 7 comments }Parallax Tactical is gaining momentum with the black rifle crowd. I found them the old fashioned way, by discovering I needed something, and then searching out the solution. Regular readers may have heard me bitch about my simian build. I’m tall. Not freakishly so, but 6’4″. Those of you who can sympathize will know what a pain in the ass it can be. I don’t fit in foreign cars. Flying is a grotesque comedy, and carbine length AR-15s too often feel like toys. I have long monkey arms, and need a long length of pull. While Parallax hasn’t solved the LOP issue, they do make a great forend that is changing the way I think about the AR.

MP-5 Clone from Pakistan – Pakistani Ordnance Factory’s POF-5
Published: October 6, 2014 { 127 comments }The POF-5 may look like your run-of-the-mill MP5 knock-off, but it isn’t. These economical imports are versatile contenders. We’ve put 4,000 rounds through these two with only 5 hiccups. Even when they’re filthy, they keep kicking out brass (and steel). They’re pistols, but a simple arm brace makes them even more effective. Check out our review.
VTAC Brokos Belt–What’s under your bed when the Revolution starts?
Published: October 3, 2014 { 14 comments }Less than a decade ago the standard for military assaulters was a 2.5 inch thick super stiff belt, to which you attached your pistol and pistol mags. Usually with duct tape. They were heavy, uncomfortable, and had a bad habit of rubbing your body raw when you wore them over 2 hours. In short, they sucked, but they were all we had. You don’t know what you are missing until you get an awesome piece of gear. And the VTAC Brokos is that.
Add a Touch of Class: Niter Blue DIY
Published: September 26, 2014 { 1 comment }I have always thought of the bluing process as a kind of dark art. Some of the finishes look like they could only be achieved by a mad scientist and his minions mixing chemicals in a secret lab complete with a Jacobs Ladder and some bubbling flasks. The truth is not too far off. But you don’t need a minion to do this, just a 650 degree pot of salt. Niter bluing is one of the simplest of the bluing processes and it gives some of the most vibrant colors.
The Meopta MeoPro 80 HD Spotting Scope
Published: September 26, 2014 { 2 comments }If you are a serious shooter, a good spotting scope is a must. I see people shooting long range all the time, then trying to check their shots through a rifle scope. But if I were to make a list of gear I have to have to do my reviews efficiently, this would be in the top five, right up there with my ear protection, my bench rest, and my box of screwdrivers. Lately, it has been the Meopta MeoPro 80 HD.
