Published: June 26, 2011 { 11 comments }In case you missed it (it is only at the top of every page on the website right now), Brownells has just begun selling ammunition for the first time in their 70 year history. As part of the Grand Opening they are offering a 5% discount on the entire order (use the code CXL) and free shipping for orders over $199 that contain ammo. This deal is, however, subject to change each week.
For the tens of thousands of gunsmiths, gun shops, and avid shooters that use Brownells almost daily, this has been a big request for quite some time. When you order regularly from a place and are used to bulking up orders to combine shipping, being able to add a few boxes of ammo can save you money over time, especially if you can’t get what you are looking for from your local gun shop or big box store.
There is also an extremely functional ammo selector on the website. It is called the “Ammo Adviser Tool.” The problem with keyword searches is you get a lot of stuff you don’t need. The Ammo Adviser is meant to save you the hassle of wading through search results when all you want is to find a box of ammo. I used it to find some .30-06 Hornady under “hunting” and it worked like a charm. Read More…

Published: May 7, 2011 { 11 comments }We don’t usually do stories on press releases in the GunsAmerica Blog but this one is just so different than most that we felt we have to post it. Smith & Wesson has created a special rebate program for retired, injured and active duty military personnel. The details of the program are at www.smith-wesson.com/nationsfinest .
The Nation’s Finest program is just one of the many ways that the Company is showing its appreciation toward members of the United States Armed Forces community who actively participate in the shooting sports.
From now to December 31, 2011, any current active duty, retired or disabled member of the U.S. Armed Forces or Reserves is eligible to receive a rebate with the purchase of any qualifying Smith & Wesson firearm*. The Nation’s Finest program offers eligible military personnel and disabled veterans a $100 mail-in rebate for the purchase of a qualifying M&P15 rifle, and a $50 mail-in rebate for the purchase of a qualifying M&P pistol or Smith & Wesson revolver. Internet Scammer Paul Webster Caught! + Anti-Fraud Tips from GunsAmerica
Published: April 17, 2011 { 89 comments }Much to the relief of his hundreds of internet gun buyers who have encountered him first hand, Paul Steven Webster has been caught. He was arrested March 21st by Lee County Florida deputies after an exhaustive three year hunt by both state and local law enforcement. GunsAmerica was instrumental in both the opening of the case against Webster and in his eventual capture.
Webster has been known throughout the internet gun buying world as a most elusive purveyors of internet fraud operating in our small corner of the internet buying world. He has claimed victims from nearly every popular internet discussion forum, posting guns for sale several hundred dollars below their value, and he has also surfaced on all of the major gun buying and selling websites, as well as the internet gun auctions.

Simulated Automatic Fire AR-15 – The Slide Fire SSAR-15
Published: March 21, 2011 { 220 comments }The Slide Fire is a $369 replacement stock for your AR-15 that when used properly, simulates automatic fire. Since the invention of the semi-automatic rifle people have been learning to do what is called “bump firing” the gun. You hold the gun in a loose way and allow it to rock back and forth against the trigger finger, which simulates automatic fire. It is fun, but it burns a lot of ammo without any real ability to aim at anything.

ArmaLite AR-50A1 National Match
Published: January 31, 2011 { 9 comments }ArmaLite Inc. https://www.armalite.com/ If something ain’t broke there is a strong argument to not fix it. Fortunately for .50 Caliber match shooters though, the team at ArmaLite must have played hooky the day they learned that in 2nd grade. Even though their ArmaLite AR-50 has already been a strong competitor in national matches, they decided [...]
Thompson Center Venture and Pro-Hunter XT Weathershield
Published: January 31, 2011 { 0 comments }Thompson Center https://www.tcarms.com/ As we reported in our article, Out of the Box MOA, in the last GunsAmerica Magazine, the TC Venture easily lives up to its claim of minute of angle accuracy in a factory rifle. Unfortunately though, most of us can’t shoot good enough to prove this out ourselves, so as a selling [...]
Springfield Armory Range Officer 1911
Published: January 31, 2011 { 3 comments }Springfield Armory https://www.springfield-armory.com/ We had an article about this gun from Range Day before SHOT this year. It was created by Springfield as a basic platform from which to build a true competition 1911, without all the bells and whistles you may not want if you buy a full tricked out gun. Rob Leatham, who [...]
