In light of the “Charleston loophole” that allowed felony-charged Dylann Roof to legally purchase a handgun, the gun-grabbing group Everytown For Gun Safety plans to launch a series of ads aimed at pushing stricter background checks.

“He knew right away it wasn’t going to work from the community, but the business owners let him know as well,” said Bill Hamrock, co-owner of a bistro located across the street from the would-be NOVA Firearms.

”We shouldn’t give known criminals the benefit of the doubt when it comes to guns,” said Blumenthal and Murphy in a joint statement. “If law enforcement needs more than three days to ensure they’re not giving weapons to dangerous people, Washington must allow them the time to do their jobs. If we refuse to act, we’re just biding time until this happens again.”

“It’s not definitive,” said Clyburn. “But I do know this, we know from our experiences that background checks are effective in preventing a lot of people who should not have guns from getting them.”

For decades the U.S. military has used full metal jacket (FMJ) rounds for their pistols, but are finally switching to jacketed hollowpoints (JHP).

“Maine now joins an ever-growing number of states in passing permitless carry,” said Chris Cox, Executive Director of NRA¹s Institute for Legislative Action. “Despite the best efforts of Michael Bloomberg-funded groups to distort the truth, the Maine legislature and Governor stood strong for freedom.”
