A recent audit of California’s Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed the agency has seriously fallen behind on keeping track of those persons who own guns, but shouldn’t.

It’s only a matter of time before wide swaths of the public begin supporting the idea of constant government drone surveillance on U.S. soil. The pitch of a “safer” albeit more closely monitored society is hard to resist, especially to those who don’t believe they are responsible for their own safety.

Sens. Kristen Gillibrand (D-NY) and Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill) introduced a bill this week that would create heavy penalties for anyone convicted of firearms trafficking.

There are bad apples in every bunch. The gun community, like every other community, has a few individuals who give us all a bad rap.

“I’m going to speak out against the uncontrollable use of guns in our country because I believe we can do better,” Clinton said Tuesday in Iowa City.

“Myself, as a city councilman, and apparently the rest of the City Council agrees that gun-free zones are targets,” Jett said. “If you look at the shootings that have happened, they are gun-free zones. Schools, malls and recently churches. I want people to know that this is not a gun-free zone, and we are not a target.”

“It’s not definitive,” said Clyburn. “But I do know this, we know from our experiences that background checks are effective in preventing a lot of people who should not have guns from getting them.”
