A would-be thief in Memphis tried one of the oldest tricks in the book last weekend, but he didn’t count on his target being armed.

“We are in the process of destroying all firearms and accessories that are no longer for sale as a result of our February 28th policy change,” a spokeswoman told the Post-Gazette. “We are destroying the firearms in accordance with federal guidelines and regulations.”

“Am I going to get out my bat that’s in a locked cabinet or my bucket of rocks or slide something under the door to lock it to stop someone?” Fagan asked. “How effective is any of this?”

“I’ve dealt with it for many, many years. But it is so ugly this time NRA is insisting that I listen to my security advisers. It always amazes me how these people who claim to want to stop violence are so quick to threaten violence. I have never been afraid of them but it really makes me angry when they threaten my family.”

“We do support the second amendment. We do support a person’s right to bear arms. We’re against assault weapon ban and we want to express our viewpoints as conservative students,” he continued.

Destroying or surrendering firearms in the name of curbing gun violence is about as stupid as it gets.
