From the beginning this column has been about actually going and doing what most people only think about doing. At the height of the “prepper craze,” when the mindless and completely fake cable “reality” shows were popular, it was estimated that for every 10 people thinking about off grid survival, only one was actually taking actions at all. These days, when survival food is on clearance at Walmart, even more people have lapsed into “it isn’t going to happen here.” Because as it turns out, prepping is expensive, and very involved.

Add a Touch of Class: Niter Blue DIY
Published: September 26, 2014 { 1 comment }I have always thought of the bluing process as a kind of dark art. The truth is not too far off. But you don’t need a minion to do this, just a 650 degree pot of salt. Niter bluing is one of the simplest of the bluing processes and it gives some of the most vibrant colors.

So why are we bombing a country or countries that have done nothing to us? Has anyone actually figured out why we are bombing people?

Published: September 26, 2014 { 2 comments }If you are a serious shooter, a good spotting scope is a must. I see people shooting long range all the time, then trying to check their shots through a rifle scope. But if I were to make a list of gear I have to have to do my reviews efficiently, this would be in the top five, right up there with my ear protection, my bench rest, and my box of screwdrivers. Lately, it has been the Meopta MeoPro 80 HD.
