This week we got our hands on one of the simplest and most elegant pieces of gear I have ever seen. So simple, in fact, that this review will probably be short on words. This week we got our hands on one of the simplest and most elegant pieces of gear I have ever seen. So simple, in fact, that this review will probably be short on words. Which in this case is a feature, not a bug. It’s right there in the name, the Minimalist.

Radian Talon 45 degree Safety
Published: April 8, 2023 { 0 comments }This week you get to see me eat a little bit of crow as I finally come around from being a dinosaur to embracing the new hotness. Well, maybe not the newest hotness. But I am finally going to admit that something we started to see about 10 years ago is an improvement over the default AR-15 design.
Spyderco ROC
Published: April 2, 2023 { 1 comment }When it comes to guns and knives, I am generally the practical guy. I write about P320’s and FNH 509s and concealable blades that punch above their weight. We have other people that write about antique machine guns and gadgets, and rarely shall they cross. But I do sometimes get taken in by the cool, even if it is far from the best design.
Tract Optics – New Contender for the Mid-Price Crown?
Published: March 26, 2023 { 5 comments }The rifle optics game has been changing a lot as of late, one might even say turning on its head.
XYLO Chassis – Bolt Action Magic
Published: March 10, 2023 { 1 comment }This “steampunk cowboy bolt action” chassis doesn’t look how I expected it, but the moment I put my hands on it, I absolutely knew I had to have one.
BFG Helium Whisper – Lightweight Pouch Tech
Published: March 3, 2023 { 0 comments }I was first introduced to Blue Force Gear’s Helium Whisper technology earlier this year, and came away very impressed. Helium Whisper is a new laser cut space ninja type fabric that weighs, as the name implies, nothing. Picking it up, you would think it might be fragile. On that count, you would be wrong. Despite feeling like nothing, as well as being very thin, you can’t tear it.
Halfbreed Blades CCK-01
Published: February 18, 2023 { 4 comments }I have tried many blades over the years, with a perennial favorite being the Spartan Blades CQB tool. Well finally, after a very long run at the top, we have now a contender to the throne. The Halfbreed Blades CCK-01, which stands for Compact Clearance Knife version 1.
Punch Daggers for CCW: An Underrated Tool?
Published: January 8, 2023 { 2 comments }Our tester this week comes from RMJ Tactical, the Dragonfly to be specific. It is made of Nitro-V stainless steel, weighs in at 1.8 ounces without the sheath, and features a 2.375-inch blade.
SME Brass Catcher
Published: November 20, 2022 { 1 comment }For any situation where saving your brass is called for, this is a great product. Be it reloading, ease of range clean up, or just not littering, this is an absolute winner. One I can highly recommend.
Craddock Precision 7.62×39 Upper (Primary Arms Lower & parts)
Published: November 13, 2022 { 6 comments }We finally wrapped up our Primary Arms pistol lower build, out of all the orphan parts. We had a lot of fun completely disregarding color schemes as we perused the sale pages and bought whatever was in stock. Which ended us with a 2A lower, radian safety, mag pul grip, and an AR Gold Trigger. Oh, and a CMMG RipBrace since this was a pistol configuration, one of my favorite parts to hit the market this year. So finally, we can get to the point. And the point was to make a 7.62×39 pistol from AR parts.
