Last year GLOCK was downsizing. The .380 GLOCK 42 is a force to contend with, but it doesn’t compare to the new GLOCK 40. If you are think bigger is better (and we’re talking much bigger) check out this behemoth from SHOT Show 2015.

Tac-Con’s Raptor AK Trigger–SHOT Show 2015

Tac-Con made a big spalsh with the 3MR, an AR trigger that runs almost as fast as full-auto. Now they’re adding to that trigger and taking on the AK platform, too. Drop in triggers for AKs and the Saiga 12? That’s just half of the news. The 3MR is evolving too. Now the lightning fast trigger has a third position–a two-stage trigger with a one pound break. Speed and accuracy from one trigger–and the price is coming down.

As AR pistols get smaller and smaller, they loose power. And the blast is hard to handle. The pistol caliber carbines have been slow to catch on, but that’s about to change. CZ’s new 9mm powerhouse, the Scorpion, is epic. It is exceptionally well built, and the price is going to knock you over.

Prepping 101: Perimeter Alarm Security – The Wireless Options

Our last visit to the topic of perimeter security took a look at a really nifty tripwire system I found on Ebay. It busts a .22 caliber nailgun blank, and you can hear it for miles on a quiet night in the country. It is extremely low-tech and electricity free, and it works. For this article I am following up with a couple of wireless options, one expensive and one pretty cheap, and both also work really well. Nobody wants to rely on batteries, but any tripwire system is going to have several basic drawbacks:

James H Cohen and Sons have been in the antique firearms business since 1898. If you are a collector and lover of rare guns you owe it to yourself to visit the Cohen’s shop. The store is on Royal Street in the heart of the French Quarter, and filled with the sort of guns you’d typically expect to find in a museum.

Prepping 101: Radio Silence! – The Mobile Survival HAM Backpack

If you think about it, communication with the outside world is going to become really important in the weeks and months after a system collapse or major disaster. You may have food and water for months, but you don’t have it for years. And as I explained in my article on seeds, growing your own food just isn’t that easy. But as several commenters pointed out on the first radio article in this series, there is a strong argument to maintain radio silence. Any experienced radio operator can triangulate your position as soon as you press the send key, and in any survival situation, you can bet that there will be hostiles out there listening for where they can steal some supplies. Radio silence has to be weighed against the benefits of reaching out to the world outside.
