Ed Brown, one of the best 1911 custom shops in the world, has been tinkering with a new take on the 1911 specifically optimized for 9mm Luger.

All packed up the Viper can fit in a small bag, sling, purse or even a glovebox. The Viper is interesting whether it’s for fun at the range or real work.

What happened was not surprising. The gun my bride picked — a Glock 19 9mm — was one she had steadfastly refused to consider. The Bersa was forgotten entirely.

The M&P 45 2.0 might not have been a sales dynamo, but to discerning clients, it made waves. As far as ergonomics go, Smith & Wesson did an excellent job.

Carrying a firearm without having the skill to use it effectively and safely can result in unintended consequences like injured bystanders, legal action and serious repercussions for our families.

I should not have to say this, but just because someone “doesn’t look right” and is carrying a weapon doesn’t mean you are about to be assaulted or that he is an armed robber.

At the time these events happened, I considered myself to be well-prepared — maybe over-prepared — in the area of personal self-defense. (I am retired military and a former police officer.) I foolishly thought I was smart enough to be able to keep a criminal from getting the best of me. I was wrong.

The updated B model has a reversible push-button magazine release along with all the features that make the VP9 the success it’s been.

Oh, I certainly love the electronic optics available today … more on that below. But every now and again it’s just fun to have a carry handle with the integrated sights. Here’s what I love — and hate — about the UTG.
