BREAKING: Hi-Point’s First-Ever AR-15 — NRA 2025

in News

You’re not going to believe who just entered the AR-15 game. Ready? Hi-Point. That’s right.

The budget king of pistols and carbines is now making ARs—and they’ve brought the goods to the show floor in a big way.

We got our hands on the brand-new Hi-Point HP-15, and folks, it’s no joke. This rifle is chambered in 5.56, and it’s joined by a pistol variant that comes in both 5.56 and .300 Blackout.

You might be thinking, “Yeah, but what’s the price?”

Get this: MSRP is under $500. Let that sink in. And yes, it still comes with Hi-Point’s famous lifetime warranty.

This thing has a 16” barrel with an A2 birdcage flash hider, carbine-length gas system, free-float M-LOK handguard, and a full-length top Pic rail. The receiver set is milspec, it runs a standard M16 bolt carrier group, and features a polish trigger that looks nickel-boron coated.

There’s even a stainless steel hammer and a fully adjustable stock. In other words, it’s a milspec-style AR-15 with all the features you’d expect—at a price you absolutely wouldn’t.

“Less than five of the things you carry in your wallet” is how True described the price—and he’s not wrong.

As mentioned, Hi-Point’s also launching a 10.5” AR-style pistol, available in both 5.56 and .300 BLK. That’s going to open the door for even more folks looking for a compact, budget-friendly defensive platform.

And let’s be real—with anti-gunners coming for ARs at every level and with the tariff sitch, it’s good to see a company stand up and say, “Yeah, we’re making one—and it’s affordable.”

We’ll have more from the show floor soon. But for now, this new HP-15 from Hi-Point is stealing the spotlight.

I understand many love hi point, but I’m not one of them, because I was around in the beginning, and selling them. I just can’t get past the unreliable brick that was and is hi point.

I’ve owned several Hi Point 45s and never had a problem. Maybe it’s not the weapon but the seller that had the problem.

  • Doubter April 28, 2025, 2:07 pm

I didn’t think pot metal could be mil spec. Who knew?

I hope they sell a boat load of them….even if they only work once.

My first .45 was and is a Hi Point. It is a good ugly ducking of the gun world but accurate and not much kick as it is on the heavy side. I had a problem with the firing pin once and they mailed me a box to ship it to them to be repaired. Fortunately I didn’t have to send it to them as I fixed the problem myself.

Yawn. Another basic bag-of-butts AR15 in an ocean of other basic AR15’s. Other than a decent warranty, who cares.

  • Matt Kase April 28, 2025, 8:28 am

I mean, ok. But in the rock-bottom AR orbit Radicals and ATIs are regularly on sale in the $299 range. So I’m not sure who will want to spend 2/3 more to get a Hi-Point.

Lifetime warranty and made in USA.

      • Matt Kase April 28, 2025, 11:04 am

Same is true for Radical and ATI ARs–US made with lifetime warranties.

Wonder if that’s a rebranded Anderson. They seem to use that qd socket type stock and the stainless fcg.
