Overview
The Avidity Army PD10 is a purpose-driven concealed-carry pistol developed by self-defense expert Rob Pincus. Pincus is a professional trainer, author and consultant — and now a firearms designer.
The PD10 started life as a sketch on a napkin. It is a polymer-framed, single-stack striker-fired 9mm handgun. If the PD10 was a double-stack handgun it would be about service pistol-sized, but thanks to the slender magazine it’s thin and light enough for concealed carry while still providing a full pistol grip and standard muzzle velocities.
After two years in development and testing, Pincus is launching the design with Eagle Imports. He is now showing off the first production Avidity Arms PD10 pistols.
Everything about the pistol was built expressly for concealed-carry without compromising its performance to cut weight and thickness. The PD10 uses 1911 magazine bodies for their proven reliability, with modified claw baseplates for one-handed extraction if they don’t eject properly.
The pistol comes with a factory front night sight, an Ameriglo high-visibility square LumiGreen front sight, and a black serrated Claw sight for advanced slide manipulation techniques. It has aggressive slide serrations at the rear and a dehorned muzzle to make it holster quickly and safely.

Impressions
I had a chance to drop by the Eagle Imports booth and chat with Pincus about the new pistol. He is always the showman and finally, I just had to stop him and say, “Rob I believe you, but I haven’t shot the gun, tell me what was your vision in 10 words or less.” He thought about it and said “[Our] students wanted a single-stack Glock 19 and that was where I started.”
This is the second version of the gun I have handled. Last year it was a prototype Frankengun; a proof of concept pistol. This year’s model was mostly finalized with a few small tweaks and changes slated to be made. Avidity Arms has plans to follow with a compact version of the PD10 Both models will be manufactured and assembled in America.
This gun is interesting and has promise. So how about it, Rob got one I can try out?
Pricing and Availability
The MSRP will be around $500 and availability is expected mid-2017 for the first full-size model.
At that price, Avidity faces some strong competition from established brands, but the pistol is different enough — a full-size subcompact? — that it manages to stand out well on its own.

You lost me at ‘Rob Pincus’…
Seems pretty similar to a Springfield XDs 4″ with a full-size grip, minus the grip safety. Pincus carried one in several of his instructional videos.
So, basically a Ruger 9E for $150 more and 7 fewer rounds capacity.
Regarding the comment by the author that the PD10 is “dehorned” for quick holstering, there no reason to holster quickly. Dehorning permits a smooth holstering without hangups. Safely holstering is the goal, not quick holstering.
The Latest on the Avidity Arms PD10 (The Rob Pincus Pistol) – SHOT Show 2017

Other than this being another ugly pistol what does it have going for it ? We are flooded with “New” pistols clamoring for a niche in individual gun sales. It used to be until the 80s that if you knew several hundred small arms you were a knowledgeable party. Following the 80s hundreds, no thousands of “new” guns seem to appear each year on the global scene. Most are designer modifications of older weapons with a new gimmick or so (look at the 1911 market) and all of them are getting big money. If you are not in the business of firearms or do not have a program you can’t keep up with the numbers.
This pistol has no track record and we don’t know how it will hold up and $500 is not chicken feed. As Glock and most others (S&W for example) now have single stacks in 9mm what purpose does this have. The PD10 is most likely going to be just another bump in the road of firearms development.
WHY or why does someone believe that there is a lack of quality single stack pistols on the market? Polymer framed or not….? Will this one do something that the others from known manufacturers – will not?
Is this pistol indicative of someone on an quest? ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Pretty sure I read that the PD 10 will ship C M 9mm 1911 magazines and are designed around them.
Never heard of the name, wait it out and see how it does for a year or so.
A single-stack Glock 19 is something Glock should have done along time ago. (Along with a single-stack Glock 21 I might add.) The PD10 will fill this niche. The price is competitive with Glock, hopefully the reliability will be too. Avidity should make it so that stock 1911 9mm mags will be compatible. Easy to get and not expensive. Also, you don’t need a mag loader to get them fully loaded. There is a lot to be said for the ergonomics of a single-stack full size 9mm. The 1911 9mm feels good in the hand but it’s heavy. Kahr has the mid-size CT-9 but not everyone likes the long Kahr trigger pull. I’m looking forward to trying the PD10.
I believe it did say that it does accept regular 1911 magazines
