“These ads are a reminder that background checks aren’t a partisan issue, and that the vast majority of Americans support common sense steps to keep guns away from dangerous people,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety.

“It’s just an indication of the problem we have with the scourge of gun violence in this country that we need to do much more at a federal level to stop,” Art Acevedo, chief of the Miami Police Department, told CBS’ Face the Nation.

The Firearm Carry Act of 2021, or as it’s also known HB 1927, cleared both chambers of the Texas Legislature and will now head to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott.

The comedian advised America, do not “pass any more stand-your-ground laws and repeal the ones that exist. They are redundant solutions to a made-up problem and they are actively doing harm.”

“These so-called “gun buybacks” are gun control theater,” Oliva told GunsAmerica via email. “They are a waste of taxpayer money and are a charade perpetuated by gun control politicians who want to appear as if they’re doing something, yet not actually tackling the difficult work of reducing crime.”
