ATF Banning Beretta 1301 Tactical Shotguns

in News

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Beretta USA has temporarily halted production of its popular 1301 Tactical shotgun with 7+1 capacity, effective November 4, 2024.

The pause comes as the company navigates new interpretations from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that are affecting the importation of key components for assembly in the U.S.

What Happened?

The ATF’s unexpected decision has thrown a wrench into Beretta’s operations, specifically regarding components essential to producing the 1301 Tactical 7+1.

Beretta USA is actively working with the ATF to clarify the issue and ensure compliance while aiming to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

What Does This Mean for Gun Owners?

For now, existing inventory of the 1301 Tactical 7+1 is still available at dealers nationwide. If this shotgun is on your Christmas wish list, now may be the time to snatch one up.

In the meantime, Beretta has introduced a new solution: the Beretta 1301 Tactical C. This 5+1 configuration maintains the reliability and performance that the 1301 Tactical line is known for.

Whether for self-defense, sport shooting, or professional use, the Tactical C aims to meet the demands of American gun owners during this regulatory hiccup.

The 1301 Tactical’s Legacy

Despite the production pause, the 1301 Tactical remains a top performer in its class. It was recently crowned 2024 Industry Choice Awards (ICA) Shotgun of the Year for the second year running, cementing its reputation as a reliable choice for both consumers and professionals.

What’s Next?

Beretta USA has assured its customers and partners that it’s committed to resolving this matter with the ATF. Updates will be provided as they become available, and the company remains dedicated to ensuring access to its trusted firearms.

For now, the focus shifts to the 1301 Tactical C and the remaining stock of the 1301 Tactical 7+1. Beretta’s message to its loyal customers: thank you for your patience and support as they work through this challenge.

Bottom Line for the Pro-2A Community:

While the pause in production is disappointing, it’s another reminder of the ongoing challenges the firearms industry faces with regulatory hurdles.

This is a time for gun owners to remain informed, engaged, and supportive of companies navigating these obstacles to continue delivering the firearms we rely on.

This is one of the reasons the ATF needs to be done away with. It’s a shotgun people. A shotgun!!!!!!

Once again, the ATFE has overstepped its boundaries by arbitrarily declaring a specific weapon is no longer legal. Do they not understand that their arbitrary decisions violate Federal laws? Where is the oversight for these people? Checks and balances are written into our Constitution for this express purpose. They should be used, as intended.

Yet another reason to do away with the 2nd Amendment infringing ATF!

I mean, in all the bills, laws, rules, bans and court cases. why is it that SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED never, NEVER, comes up let alone means a damn thing?!

What could possibly be the problem? Fixed length stock, legal 18.5″ barrel, semi-auto, it’s not an SBR. So why did it to draw the ire of the BATF? BATF power overreach maybe?

1989 Bush importation executive order banning foriegn made semi autos.

That still doesn’t make any sense. I just purchased a Tokarev semi-auto shotgun made in Turkey and there were no problems with that.

H.R. 1154 banned certain so called ” assault rifles ” from import. Shotguns were not on the list.
