A man leaving a gun range found himself in a robbery attempt that quickly escalated into a shootout. And at least one alleged robber paid the price.
According to a report from Click2Houston (KPRC2), Houston police say the incident unfolded near an apartment complex on Rampart Street and the Westpark Tollway. Investigators told reporters that the victim had just left a gun range when he was approached and robbed by a group of three men.
Police say the suspects followed him to the apartment complex before the situation turned violent.
During the attempted robbery, the armed citizen fired his weapon, striking one of the suspects. That suspect is expected to survive. The other two allegedly involved in the robbery fled the scene. But left their vehicle behind.

Houston police taped off the area and were seen processing the abandoned car for evidence. As of the latest update, the two remaining suspects were still on the run.
Authorities have not yet clarified what, if anything, was taken from the victim, or why he was targeted in the first place. It’s also unclear whether the suspects knew the man had just come from a gun range. A detail that adds an unusual twist to the case.
One thing is clear: what started as a robbery attempt ended with gunfire, and the intended victim walked away while one alleged attacker ended up hospitalized.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are continuing to search for the two fleeing suspects.

Ah yes, more liberal drivel…
One has only to turn on their evening news ( pick a city in the US) to see a story about armed robberies or carjackings, where the victims were either severely beaten or shot, even when fully complying with the attackers demands. People are free to succumb to these attacks or hoping that police will protect them, but I certainly will not. This is why I train regularly, and regularly deploy situational awareness everywhere ( usually code orange outside, code yellow at home) It isn’t difficult, it becomes a learned habit when practiced and it’s the reality of the world that we live in.
Also, because many people do not carry as much cash as they used to, dragging a suspect to their banking ATM to withdrawal funds has increased. Again, allowing yourself to do this in the hopes of being spared is not in my playbook, & never will be.
Finally, I would recommend to anyone that is actively carrying a firearm for CCW, to be licensed, regularly train with the firearm & load that you carry for proficiency, & lastly, obtain good CCW insurance. This can well save you from financial ruin. ( Also, if you are a homeowner, place your house in a trust, to protect you from lawsuits that could result in you losing your largest investment.)

Although the Far Right like to crow about, strut about, and scream victory from the rooftops in incidents like this in reality this type of outcome is usually not the norm.
From a Stanford Study as written up in a New York Times article:
“While victims actively resisted in only 7 percent of the robberies studied, those incidents accounted for 51 percent of the deaths.” Not good odds Jethro.
Put on the elementary level you stand more of a chance on getting your head blown off if you fight it out over a few pennies you are squeezing in your hand so hard that they are screaming for mercy. Of course the Far Right do not see it this way, losing even a penny to them is a fate worse than death and they simply love killing people over money. It is a religious crusade for them to shoot it out.
Now anyone with even a smidgen of grey matter between their ears knows that the advantage always lies with the attacker because the victim does not in most cases even realize that he is about to be attacked. When someone is already pointing a gun at your head the chances of you then pulling out your gun and firing before he does is slim to none.
The Far Right then will counter argue about “situational awareness”. There are two thing wrong with this idiotic response. The first is that no one can be on high alert every second as too many distractions are often in play, sometimes many a minute. The second problem is that if you shoot it out stray bullets often end up killing innocent bystanders and even if your bullet was not the bullet that killed someone you may still be liable in court over such a death because you made the decision to shoot it out over money. This never sits well with a jury.
Remember these days most people carry little cash and if they do its usually less than $100 dollars. Most people pay with plastic which can be replaced with a few clicks of a computer key. It’s no big deal to cancel a credit card and get another so is it worth shooting it out for that and losing your life or killing a bystander. Only the deraigned greed monger stingy penny squeezing Far Right would scream yes.

Look Jethro the legal ramifications of starting a shootout would bankrupt you and maybe even send you to prison, especially if an innocent person was shot in the crossfire. In many States shooting someone over property is illegal and makes you subject to prosecution. Of course a teenager still in High School like yourself would be unaware of such laws or consequences.
what if’s and imagined worse case scenario’s don’t support nor answer my question and getting shot/killed isn’t an option in self defense or with sane people.
How do you know they won’t kill you even if you comply? If you pull a gun or knife on me expect to be shot, regardless of what it is about.
Your statement about shooting someone over property falls when it comes to armed robbery. In such cases, it is not a property crime, but a crime against a person. In most states now, the right to personal defense is provided for in the case of immanent bodily harm, or death including someone holding a weapon of any type and forceable rape.
Further, by meekly giving the criminal what they want, it emboldens them to commit similar crimes against others. There are two paths available to deal with such people. Sadly, both require a strong message; the intended victim fights back and potentially kills the attacker, or the attacker is removed from society permanently and society has to pay for the attacker’s upkeep while incarcerated. Neither route is ideal, but both lead to the required end.
