AR-Wielding Security Guard Stops Nightclub Shooter

in News

A security guard armed with an AR-style rifle stopped a violent attack outside a Chattanooga nightclub last month, highlighting once again why modern sporting rifles are essential for self-defense.

According to Local 3 News, the incident began around 1:00 a.m. in the 5200 block of Woodland View Circle, near the Chattanooga Housing Authority.

Police say an argument between two men escalated when 21-year-old Da’Shaun Foster retrieved a firearm from his home and opened fire.

However, instead of hitting his intended target, Foster struck two teenagers—one, a 17-year-old, suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head, while a 16-year-old was shot in the leg but is expected to recover.

Surveillance footage captured the moment Foster fired into a crowd. That’s when a nightclub security guard, armed with a modern sporting rifle, stepped in and fired multiple rounds, stopping the shooter before lives were lost.

Authorities arrested Foster after witnesses identified him as the gunman. He now faces three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault and is being held on a $50,000 bond.

His court appearance is scheduled for February 18, and the investigation remains ongoing.

This incident serves as a stark rebuttal to anti-gun rhetoric. Gun control advocates often claim that AR-style rifles have no place in civilian hands, yet here we have a clear-cut example of one saving lives.

When an armed threat emerges, a good guy with the right tool can make all the difference.

Situations like this reinforce why the Second Amendment matters. In those critical moments before law enforcement arrives, armed citizens and security professionals play a vital role in protecting the innocent.

Not bad for a guy with a rifle with no rear sight or optic visible on it… Probably a good thing for the bad guy that he didn’t have either. The fact that he stood up and faced the threat directly speaks well for his courage and determination.

I read this report on Whatfinger News.com where stories like are freely posted daily. I was saddened by some of the comments. Those You Tube commandos were posting criticism of the guard’s weapon skills and completely overlooked the lives the man saved and how quickly and bravely he faced the threat. Sure, he could have been smoother like a Delta Force Operator and could have sought cover before engaging. But he didn’t- he stepped up and stopped the threat. The young deserves recognition and an award, not criticism!

3 counts of attempted first degree murder and his bond is 50,000 dollars, 10% acceptable… Do you see a problem here?

No doubt the BLM turd will shoot through our liberal revolving door justice system like shit through a Canadian goose and be back out on the streets before the stink fades.

Live near Chattanooga this did not make the local news. Likely because it was after any “reporters” bedtime or this is so common that it is no longer news. Chattanooga a liberal schitt hole. My wife & I used to dine out downtown once a week. We quit when the mayor & police allowed blm to harass people & stop traffic.

If I see “…. a nightclub security guard, armed with a modern sporting rifle….”, also referred to in the article as “an AR-style rifle” at a nightclub, I’m going to do an about face and find a club where civilized people socialize. There are none, you say. Fine, life is too short to suffer fools.

Number one, anywhere there’s a “Housing Authority”. It’s usually a shit hole. Number two, why is there a 16 year-old and 17-year-old standing around a nightclub? Look up Richmond, Virginia, and Operation Exile. That’s how you clean out the rats.

I mean, the issue isn’t AR-15’s–it’s cheap and easy access to high-capacity magazines for semi-auto guns.

With only the qualification that you are 18, you can walk into any corner gun store and gain the ability to wiggle your finger 30 or more times and each time have a chance at killing whoever you are pointing at in the moment. You can do this in about 10 seconds, and nobody will have an opening to stop you.

So then you need to ask–is the ability to do this going to increase the number of innocent people left alive (i.e., whose freedom was upheld)–or not? In the vast, vast majority of cases, if you perceive more than 5 people to be an imminent threat to your ability to breathe, YOU are the bad guy.

I’d also be curious to know what kind of gun and mag the original shooter was using. Don’t get me wrong, I own 2 AR’s myself, but with 30 or 50-rd mags, they give one person WAY too much control over other people’s lives–and there’s no requirement for those people to be an active shooter.

if it so easy to kill people with an ar then why are there so many rds fired and so few hits during incidents? me thinks you watch to many movies and never really fired one…….

No, the problem is not “cheap and easy access to high-capacity magazines for semi-auto guns.” The problem is thug and gang culture, lack of parenting, lack of morals, and the attempt to kick God out of nearly everything. If easy access to firearms and components were the problem then a state like New Hampshire (which has the #1 lowest homicide rate in the US) would be near the bottom because it has almost zero laws regarding guns and the bearing of them.
