The Walther P22 is a .22 LR semi-automatic pistol built for tactical-style rimfire shooting. It features a 3.42 in barrel and a 10-round detachable magazine, with an overall length of 6.5 in and a weight around 16 oz. The design includes interchangeable backstraps and an ergonomic polymer frame for a customizable grip.
The P22 family includes a captured recoil spring, a double/single-action trigger system, low-profile sights (windage-adjustable rear), and a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail for lights or lasers. Non-California variants offer a suppressor-ready threaded barrel (M8x0.75) and Walther supplies a wrench for barrel removal/installation on threaded models. The pistol also includes an ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release and a loaded chamber indicator.
Walther lists the P22’s intended uses as concealed carry, home defense, and target shooting, making it suitable for personal-defense and recreational/target use.
