The Browning 1911-22 Black Label is a scaled 1911-pattern .22 LR autoloading pistol designed for light, fast shooting. It uses a straight blowback, single-action design with a button-rifled, target-crowned steel barrel and a detachable 10-round magazine.
Black Label models feature an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, a grip safety and a magazine safety. The 1911-22 family is offered with either a precision-machined 7075-T6 aluminum frame/slide or a polymer (composite) frame depending on the specific variant; fixed sights are standard on the platform.
Construction details include an aircraft-grade 7075 T6 alloy slide/frame option (and polymer frame option), a steel slide block enclosing the firing pin and extractor, and a heat-treated steel 10-round magazine with polymer follower for reliable feeding.
