A would-be robber was shot last week when an armed citizen stopped to help the victim.

A man was at a Chase bank in Houston withdrawing money from an ATM when a stranger came around the corner and demanded money.

Investigators indicated that the victim had been “trying to comply when the [would-be robber] started pistol-whipping him.”

Police said it was at this point that the good samaritan drove by. He saw what was happening and pulled out his gun to defend the victim.

The would-be robber was shot several times in the leg and the foot. He was in stable condition when he was taken to a hospital, according to police.

Neither the victim nor the armed citizen were seriously harmed. Both witnesses gave statements to the investigators.

Since then, KTRK, who reported the incident, has uncovered information about the suspect. According to ABC13, the would-be robber was wanted for murder in Louisiana.

One can only speculate what might have occurred if an armed citizen hadn’t been present at the right time and place.

The suspect survived? What a shame his reign of terror wasn’t permanently ended by removing him from the gene pool.
