An Omaha woman shot her boyfriend last week after he allegedly attempted to strangle her.
According to the Omaha World-Herald, the 39-year-old woman and her boyfriend were arguing. She told police that he began to assault her.
Per the police report, she struck him over the head with a metal pipe and then he strangled her from behind. She began fearing for her life.
He refused to release her and this was when she reached for a gun. The woman shot her boyfriend.
Police originally received a call for sexual assault but according to KETV, “the call was upgraded to a shooting as officers were responding to the scene.”
They arrived to find the 40-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. Authorities took him to the Nebraska Medical Center.
The boyfriend, considered to be in non-life-threatening condition, was transferred to the Douglas County Jail.

These statistics did not favor the woman from Omaha.
No local sources have released information on the condition of the victim. She is likely lucky that she had a method to defend herself from her boyfriend.
