Wilson Combat and Davidson’s are teaming up to offer the exclusive PPE Carbine and PPE Pistol. Both are premium guns decked out with plenty of shop hardware, but are a touch less expensive than many other Wilson Combat rifles and pistols.
The PPE Carbine is a standard AR-15 carbine with a 16.25-inch barrel and 4-position Wilson Combat stock. The PPE Pistol has a short, 11.3-inch barrel and an adjustable Gearhead Works Tailhook Brace. Both are chambered for 5.56 NATO and have a suggested retail price of $1,949.
“Our relationship with Wilson Combat continues to grow with this latest of several Davidson’s Exclusives produced in conjunction with them,” said Davidson’s VP Kane Cannedy. “The level of quality and attention to detail is just one of the things that sets Bill Wilson’s products apart from the competition. The PPE carbine reflects Wilson Combat’s continued tradition of manufacturing top-tier firearms.”
Aside from the different length barrels, and stock or brace, the PPE guns use all of the same core components with just a couple of tweaks to the pistol version like a slightly shorter handguard and a compact 20-round magazine over the full-size 30-rounder that comes with the carbine. Also the carbine has a mid-length gas system, while the pistol has a standard carbine gas system.
The PPE series is built on forged Wilson Combat receivers and come with chrome-lined carbon steel barrels with 1-in-8 twists. The barrels are free-floating with the handguards, which are modular with M-Lok slots to accommodate accessories on the sides and bottom. They have full-length Picatinny rails on top for front sights and other accessories.

Rounding things out on the outside include Q-Comp compensating flash hiders and Wilson Combat Starburst Gunfighter Grips. Internally they use Wilson Combat 4-pound TTU M2 2 Stage triggers and MIL-SPEC charging handles.
The PPE Carbine weighs just 6.1 ounces dry, and the pistol weighs even less at 5.6 pounds. Like most ARs on the market, they’re “optics-ready” and leave sight and optic selection up to the buyer.
With MSRPs at $1,949 they aren’t cheap, but considering many other Wilson Combat rifles start at $2,250 or more, these are going to appeal to people who want the best, but don’t need all the bells and whistles.
