Homeowner shoots at masked intruders!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

A Seattle homeowner shot at three masked men last week after they attempted to kick his door in, claiming to be police.

Auburn Police received a call of a “no-injury” shooting around 2 a.m. that morning.

According to Kiro7, the homeowner’s Ring doorbell recorded the whole event. The men had shown up at the door with black ski masks over their faces. All three were armed with pistols.

Masked Menaces

“Seattle Police!” one of the men said before the three began attempting to kick the door down.

Local News Outlet King5 said that the door was deadbolted, which “really allowed the homeowners time to react,” said Kolby Crossley, a spokesperson for the police.

The homeowner had a gun and opened fire on the three masked intruders. Reports indicate that the homeowner fired multiple shots.

The intruders did not stick around the property after the homeowner began shooting at them. There is no knowledge of whether the intruders were injured.

Police Searching for Masked Suspects

Police investigators are trying to identify the masked suspects. Several local news sources, including the Auburn Examiner, have a police phone number listed for people to call with tips.

According to Komo News, the police department finds it concerning that intruders are posing as officers.

“They try to give you that false sense of security before they try and get into your home,” said Crossley. “But in this sense, they started kicking almost simultaneously.”

“In that situation just try to put it together that this is not the police that are trying to kick in your door,” Crossley added.

Neighbors A Bit Nervous

The police weren’t the only people concerned. Several neighbors woke up to gunshots that Thursday.

“You assume you’re safe,” said one neighbor in the Komo News article. “You assume it wouldn’t happen to you and even though it didn’t happen directly to me, it’s close enough where we saw the impact in our living room.”

“Even though it didn’t happen directly to me,” said another neighbor, “it’s close enough where we saw the impact in our living room.” Another neighbor said he heard over 20 gunshots.

The police are treating the case as self-defense, and the homeowner is not currently being charged.

“We obviously don’t encourage people to start shooting at people,” Crossley told Inside Edition. “But we understand that there is a right and a need to protect your property when called for.”

Only in some funky blue state would this even be a question of justified home defense. Both the media functionary and the police seem to be talking about some other incident. That was a pretty good front door also… To make sense of the official response we must remember to see things through the lens of the destruction of America from within. Good job everyone!

  • Jay October 30, 2023, 7:28 am

If you re-watch the video, you’ll see that the victim did not shoot through the door. He waited until it swung open, then he opened fire.

    • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:08 pm

You are correct, that is what I saw too. Im wondering, 8 to 12 shots as it appeared from the shot reports, and it doesn’t appear he hit either of them! WTF????! So now the 3 scumbags go on to perp another day. This is proof that the pump shotgun is still the best home-defense weapon, they’d each have deservingly taken on some lead, and most certainly have succombed to their wounds and/or ended up in a hospital to be picked up by the police.

Just some black folks trying to get some money, for their NASA book studies”

  • SteveC October 27, 2023, 8:20 pm

I’d have let them get in, then introduced all 3 of them to their Maker! You play stupid, you should get its just reward!!

    • willie Makeit October 30, 2023, 7:31 am

I agree with that, Three scumbags…three rounds 00 buck

  • John Holmes October 27, 2023, 4:59 pm

    Will the homeowner be charged?
    What a STUPID QUESTION!
    DUMB A$$ Media!
Why not ask the police if they have any leads on the burglars?
Why not ask the homeowner if he knew the suspect or was this a random act of burglary?

  • tom October 27, 2023, 3:14 pm

    FA FO!

  • Ford Prefect October 27, 2023, 2:55 pm

Gun control means hitting your target. Looks like the homeowner needs some instruction time at the range.

    • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:11 pm

I’m tellin you man! What a wasted opportunity!! As stupid as those 3 are though, their ends are coming soon. And some of us can actually hit out intended targets!! Too bad these targets are delayed their fate!!

  • RG October 27, 2023, 12:45 pm

Of course it’s self defense, when three armed men are trying to break into the home what else could you possibly call it?? I hope he hit the one who was standing in front of the door when the home owner fired the first shot.

  • jim October 27, 2023, 11:58 am

A handgun is visible in the right hand of the person in a gray sweatshirt. If that person being on private property is not an obvious threat against the property-owner’s life, I don’t know what is.

I am glad he did not hit anyone, because he would then be on the defensive side of a civil suit against him, and the evidence on the camera may not sway many jurors in his favor.

    • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:14 pm

He SHOULD’VE hit all of 3, and killed all 3 before they had the chance to turn and run, then get rid of the footage, then call for body bags. Pretty simple and logical procedure.

  • Winston October 27, 2023, 11:07 am

It is the usual dark-skinned demographic attempting a terrorist home invasion, because the TV station censors photoshopped and blurred the image of the perpetrator kicking at the door even though the Seattle Police asked for help in identifying these three terrorists. The crime wave the country is experiencing is quite deliberate.

    • paul I'll call you what I want/1st Amendment October 27, 2023, 1:18 pm

so your news likes to show the bigfoot or alien photos also. odd how when it’s a white guy they show a professional headshot image.

      • Winston October 27, 2023, 1:36 pm

I don’t live in Seattle. It’s a corporate TV news practice in markets on the West Coast to blur the faces and or lighten the complexions of black criminals caught on CCTV footage.

        • paul I'll call you what I want/1st Amendment October 28, 2023, 10:43 am

you get those night shots where it looks like a black and white negative and blacks look white as shit?

  • Jon S October 27, 2023, 10:45 am

Law enforcement always have that demented way of saying, “Don’t take the law into your own hands. Let the police handle it.”
That method is seriously flawed, and that form of compliance will get you killed. Overzealous, anti-gun attorneys and judges are even a bigger problem.
If someone kicks my door in, I will be highly encouraged and motivated to return fire.

    • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:17 pm

We SHOULD let them handle it! Right after we finish up the real business, they can come handle the bodies and get these dead tresspassers off private property. Handled!

  • Clint W. October 27, 2023, 10:38 am

To ask the question, “Is this self defense?” says alot about what people think about defending their lives. The LEO’s response was just as lame, so the best course of action so you won’t face a judge or possible jail time, is to let the home invaders kill you. The first state to allow regular folks to get a CCP was FLA. My friends wife was the first woman in the state to get a CCP. In the class, which at that time, was run by the Jacksonville Police Dept, she asked a question about self defense, saying what if she is accosted in the Regency Square Mall parking lot. The officer said, “Open fire and keep firing until the gun clicks on empty.” This was before the wide use of semi-autos. He said, she would be investigated, arrest would be in the mix as this was proper procedure in an incident like this, but she would ultimately be released that night if taken in, or just be sent on her way to go home and stay available for questioning. Investigation to find out if a woman in this situation was not dealing with a boyfriend or ex she was not getting along with, and the shooting was justified. Many states may give us the right to defend ourselves, but then we face a government decision on whether it was legal, and then civil suits from the family of the potential murderer/drug addict/child molester/thief/ rap sheet as long as a CVS sales receipt, whom we stopped.

Never answer your door for anyone, especially cops. All persons could be posing as UPS, DHL, utility company, etc. Even someone you know and can see could be under threat from an unseen intruder using your acquaintance to lower your defenses. Never blindly answer a knock at the door.

  • Hondo October 27, 2023, 9:28 am

It’s not good enough to just own a firearm, you need to train and be efficient with it, for everybody’s safety.

  • LJ October 27, 2023, 8:47 am

“We obviously don’t encourage people to start shooting at people,” Crossley told Inside Edition. “But we understand that there is a right and a need to protect your property when called for.”

When called for? Are you kidding me? Is there ANY doubt in ANYONE’S mind whether or not this homeowner had the right to shoot these assholes? Apparently, if you live on the ‘left’ coast, you have no rights and have to second guess yourself and over-think whether or not you have the right to protect yourself, or your family. That could cost you your life.

If I saw on my Ring camera 3 assholes armed, masked, and trying to kick my door down, I wouldn’t have waited until they kicked my door open before firing. Several rapid fired loads of 12ga mag buck-shot through that door after that first kick would have definitely ‘neutralized’ that threat.

    • jim October 27, 2023, 12:06 pm

You are right. BUT…if they did not actually attempt to step through the doorway, and IF you live in a blue area, you will be arrested, at least. And, you may go to jail, or prison. Without a doubt, you would certainly be defending yourself in a civil suit. If you are lucky enough to live in a red area, greater minds will prevail, and you will likely be okay.

      • LJ October 28, 2023, 8:22 am

Did you watch the same video that I did? They were doing more than ‘attempting’ to “step through the doorway” as you say. Blue state or red state makes NO difference whatsoever. If they were trespassing on his/her private property, even decked out in mask, just standing around in the front yard scoping things out – then yes, taking lethal force against them probably wasn’t warranted, or legal for that matter.

But as soon as that first hammerhead drew a gun, ran up on my porch, and tried to kick my door down, and I’ve got it all on video, I’m not waiting until they kick my door open and have a clear shot at me. Apparently you are one of the unfortunate folks that live in one of those ‘blue states’ where you are treated like sheep because you insist on voting people into office that want nothing more than to strip us of ALL of our constitutional rights, and turn this into another socialist country with NO rights whatsoever. That is exactly why our forefathers wrote our constitution in the first place.

As the old saying goes – “I’d rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6”

        • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:22 pm

Jim is operating exactly as “they” would have him operate, out of fear to those whom are atrempting to cause fear. People like him have already list the battle within themselves! So what is his resolve to such a situation outside of fighting back? What a dumbass f’n response to this. So just stand aside and let the mayhem ensue and hope for the best?! Grow some balls like a true US CONSTITUTIONALIST PATRIOT!! Jim’s type of mindset is the real enemy!!!

        • Jim October 30, 2023, 3:07 pm

DID YOU READ MY REPLY? Did you miss the “if” part? How about the “But” part? First, I could not load the video, which seems to happen often on this site. Second, my response was to someone else who pushed the issue too far, in my opinion. If you first read, “Your are right, BUT…”, that should indicate to you that I am not specifically citing exactly what happened in the case cited.

You’ve been here long enough to know that a lot of responses are based on someone else’s comment. Everything YOU wrote, I AGREE WITH. I did not completely agree with someone else.

  • Nick S October 27, 2023, 8:41 am

People think all three perps should have been hit, which is hilarious. First, I THINK one of them was struck. Second, FBI stats show 80-85% of shots fired by law enforcement miss. If you just woke up out of a sound sleep and your adrenaline is pumping, hitting one of the three (I think it was the closest) is good. The other two were behind and immediately started running. Oh the trolls…..

    • SteveC October 30, 2023, 2:24 pm

Plenty of us train, are calm cool and collective, and would have hit all 3 targets with not a 2nd thought!!!

  • Whathappenedtomycountry October 27, 2023, 7:26 am

Need more range time if he fired that many shots and didn’t hit the targets

  • paul I'll call you what I want/1st Amendment October 26, 2023, 11:47 am

home owner needs some major range time! 20rds should have taken them all out!

    • jim October 27, 2023, 12:10 pm

If a neighbor said there were 20 shots, more likely there were 8-12. People ALWAYS over-estimate the amount of shots taken, the number of shooters, the distances involved, etc.

In agreement, though, that there should have been more hits.
