A property owner in Queens, New York, confronted a group she claims illegally moved into her million-dollar home. ABC 7 cameras captured the intense standoff and the arrival of dozens of officers.
Several people were arrested, but the twist in the story might surprise you…
The property in question belongs to Adele Andaloro, left to her by her parents in Flushing, Queens. She’s in the midst of selling it but has been locked out since February 6th. According to Andaloro, squatters have claimed her property as their own.
The confrontation reached a boiling point when Andaloro and her daughter, armed with the property deed, entered the house and found strangers inside. In New York, squatters can gain “rights” after 30 days, making Andaloro’s situation increasingly complicated.

Police involvement led to the arrest of a man claiming he’d been renting the property for two days. Another individual was escorted off the premises. Tensions flared when a locksmith changed the locks, and a man claiming to be the legitimate leaseholder arrived, leading to another police call.
The situation highlighted the insanity of New York’s housing laws. Adele Andaloro, the homeowner, was warned by police that she might face arrest for illegal eviction.
The story took another turn when Andaloro was indeed arrested for unlawful eviction. The man claiming residency demanded compensation for his supposed “investments” in the property.
