I’m sorry that I didn’t get this out quicker for those of you who have deer season kicking in this week in your state. This product, the Walker Game Ear, shocked me when I got to test it this summer, and I had in mind that I should run the story before deer season, because it is an absolute secret weapon. If you haven’t tried these things, they have super sensitive microphones embedded in them, so they not only protect your ears from your eventual gunshots, they also allow you to hear like…well, a deer.
What shocked me was how much noise I make just walking around, even without a fresh leaf fall. You wonder why you can set everything up perfect for deer season, bait, licks, cams, etc., and still fail. Not only do you stink. To a deer in the woods, you are a loud and bumbling oaf. We all are its aweful!
It reminded me of how my father taught me to deer hunt 30 years ago. He said to take one step at a time, and look and listen after every step for a while. I never took to it, but you know, he got a deer every year. It was good advice. They can hear you but you can’t hear them. If you stop, look and listen, it gives you an edge on your inherent disadvantage.

There isn’t much to report on these muffs other than that they work as they should, including connecting to my phone on the first try. Each ear has its own amplifier and battery, so even if one battery dies you have the other. You’ll be blown away by how much these ears improve your ability to hear game in the field.
My angle on these ears was to be able to listen to music while I’m out working on guns at the range. I spend a lot of time walking back and forth to targets, and trying to get decent pictures of guns, ammo, and targets. These muffs will also connect to your phone, so you won’t be without contact to your family out in the woods. The last thing you need is your phone going off, and the spouse is never really happy when you shut your phone off. Walkers has a great reputation for quality, and these muffs will probably give you a lot of years of enjoyment, which for some will justify the high pricetag.
I have now used these muffs for two afternoons and they work as they should. It was easy to connect my phone to them, and the music isn’t as loud as I like, but I like music really loud. Each ear adjusts independently, and has its own amplifier and battery.
If you want to hear like a deer, these muffs will give you a competitive advantage in the field like nothing I have ever seen. I use em in the house for the bad guys. after the first shot everyone is deaf. Try them and you will find moving on the carpet sounds like a bed of dried leaves

I wear real hearing aids and also test and fit people with them as my occupation. Cleartone in Tulsa, Ok. During bow season I wear my daily aids and another brand of hearing muffs for gun season for enhancement and impulse suppression. Everybody has different capacities to hear different frequencies and interpret them accurately. I can hear the difference between a deer walking and a squirrel doing his running around. I fit many hunters with a program for the woods, to give them the best advantage while deer hunting and with the hearing capability they have left. Hearing well is indispensable in the woods just as it is at work or home.
These ears will also pay off if there is a home invasion. The last thing you want to do is turn on a light BEFORE you KNOW where the intruder is. The ears will help you locate the person.
Your right, it’s amazing what you miss when you have been listening to sirens for 40 years. I took a pair of hearing aids out the week before season opened. I used to see the game first, now I can hear a Pheasant scratching in the dirt at 30 yards. Amazing. It’s a drag to get old.
You’d be surprised how much noise is out in the deep woods. Where I hunt, you can hear a mouse fart. The noise I make breathing is enough for the Deer to hear. Sleeping noises are natural and Deer don’t seem to fear them, IE: farts, snoring, etc. I’ve awoke many times to see a Deer standing in front of my stand looking at me. If you’re deaf, you need something like this otherwise, save your money. This old man usually gets a deer every year unless None come thru where I am. That happens too.
I used to think I was so stealthy that I didn’t make a sound. Turns out I was going deaf and needed hearing aids…haha Still love to hunt though.
