This May, Vortex expanded their Razor UHD lineup with two new models: the 8×32 and the 10×32. At just 5.7” tall and weighing just 21.9 oz., both options maintain similar or better performance than full-sized binoculars yet with a smaller form factor and a lighter yet robust frame. Continuing the Razor’s reputation of excellence, these binoculars boast a rugged construction and smooth ergonomic controls. They deliver exceptional brightness and superb image quality, making them ideal for use from early morning to late evening. Like other Razor UHD binoculars, these come with Vortex’s GlassPak Pro binocular harness.

Out of the Box
From the factory, Vortex includes a neck strap, lens covers, product manual, rangefinder pouch, and their own GlassPak Pro binocular harness. The product manual not only gives instructions for how to adjust the binoculars but also how to set and adjust the harness as well.
The inclusion of this harness is much appreciated as it is a fantastic way to carry these binoculars. The GlassPak Pro is a modular chest-harness system that delivers comfort, versatility, and fast access to critical gear. While I could go into detail on this harness system, I will keep it simple. It is comfortable, lightweight, and well-built. Just like the Razor UHD, this harness is a premium tool and is modular and adjustable.
Initial Impressions Of The Razor UHD
The first time I got hands-on with the Vortex Razor UHD 10×32 binoculars, I was drooling. While the housing felt rugged and the adjustments were smooth, the glass looked phenomenal. I found the 10x magnification to be a good balance of size and performance making hiking a breeze. One of the key features of these new UHD binoculars is their wide field of view. The 10×32 Razor UHD boasts a linear field of view of 388′ at 1000 yards whereas the Razor UHD 10×42 and 10×50 have 346′ and 341′ respectively. It is also significantly lighter than either of those two options or most others with a similar performance.

Housing
The Razor UHD 10×32’s utilize a magnesium chassis which is a lightweight and relatively rugged option. Covering this is Vortex’s “Rubber Armor.” I have appreciated most of the polymers incorporated into Vortex products for years. Their rubber armor not only provides a non-slip grip but also great protection. It is comfortable and feels good in my hands. Also, for a smaller set of binoculars, the hand grooves and contours fit me well.
The front of the housing also utilizes a 1/4-20 threaded tripod adapter, and the sides have loops for mounting a neck strap.
These binoculars like most feature 3-position adjustable eyecups. Simply twist up or down for comfortable viewing with or without eyeglasses. They also feature a locking diopter. Once tuned to your eyes, simply lock it and forget it.
The rubber-coated center focus wheel adjusts both binocular barrels at the same time. It is textured, and the large radius makes extra-fine adjustments easy. The resistance is minimal, yet feels good.
Glass Clarity
The Razor UHD binoculars provide outstanding clarity, thanks to their UHD Optical System, which delivers ultra-high definition image resolution and reduces chromatic aberration for exceptional color fidelity and edge-to-edge sharpness. Equipped with XR Plus lens coatings, these binoculars ensure maximum light transmission for optimal clarity and performance in low-light conditions. The Schmidt Pechan Prism adds to their durability and compactness, while the ArmorTek coating protects the exterior lenses from scratches, oil, and dirt.
The color tone is also true to what I see with my own eyes, without any blue hues or tints from the optical coatings, resulting in a vibrant and realistic image. Although there’s a slight blur at the outer edges, the center remains crystal clear, making it easy to spot wildlife and enjoy detailed views of landscapes from varying distances.
Field Testing
During my testing, I had the opportunity to birdwatch, check cattle, and get some range use shooting out to 1050 yards. The glass continually amazed me, and the small form factor never held me back. These are comfortable to carry, and despite their size do not hold back on performance. I never ran into any issues, and if I had the Vortex Lifetime Warranty would have had me covered.
Summary of the Razor UHD
The Razor UHD 10×32 and 8×32 binoculars come with an MSRP of $2,199.99 and $2,149.99 respectively, but their street price is closer to $1500. Overall impressions of these new premium Vortex binoculars is very positive. The ergonomic design, featuring a true open hinge and rubber armor, ensures a comfortable and secure grip.

The inclusion of a tripod adapter further enhances their versatility. Lastly, the glass is fantastic. Raising these binoculars and looking through them seems as natural as if your own eyes suddenly just zoomed in on their own. It is hard to describe but Razor UHD glass is just built differently. Vortex has put a lot of thought into these upgrades, resulting in an impressive overall package.
