Volquartsen Firearms has released a new Summit rifle — this time, it is chambered in .17 WSM!
This new addition is impressive considering the extremely high pressures (for a rimfire) that the .17 WSM runs on. Just like its predecessors, the Summit .17 WSM is a high-quality and unique rifle.
The Summit .17 WSM model has a straight-pull bolt action that distinguishes it from other offerings on the market. This rifle features a stainless steel action, a Ruger 6-round rotary mag, and a Volquartsen Laminated Wood Sporter Stock. Also, there will be models available with either an I-fluted stainless=steel barrel or lightweight THM tensioned barrel (carbon fiber).
“As much fun as it was to start building the Summit .22LR, in the back of our minds we knew it was only the beginning of what was possible from this straight-pull toggle bolt system,” said Volquartsen President, Scott Volquartsen.”
“The toughest decision was not whether or not we would be offering more calibers, but which caliber would be next.” Obviously, the .17 WSM was the pick, but we’ll undoubtedly see more.
While playing with the .17 WSM Summit Rifle at SHOT, I noticed that the trigger was extremely crisp and worthy of the Volquartsen name, as you’d expect. Also, I noticed that the action is very tight because of the low tolerances. This rifle felt just like a custom rifle, but it is in fact factory produced.
Unlike the .22LR and 17 Mach 2 Summit models, the Summit .17 WSM will only be available as a complete rifle. Keep an eye out for this rifle to hit stores sometime this summer. MSRP: $1,553.
