On July 25, 2024, around 1:20 PM, Dallas Police got a hit on a stolen vehicle from a FLOCK license plate reader. Officers located the truck at 9600 Golf Lakes Trail.

The stolen red GMC pickup was found backed into a parking space at an apartment complex. Covert officers called for uniformed backup.

Uniformed officers arrived and blocked the truck with a marked Dallas Police Dodge Charger and a Chevy Tahoe. The truck had four suspects inside.

The driver, 21-year-old Damon Price, tried to escape by driving onto the squad car and hitting the Tahoe. The truck rolled back and stopped.

Price, 19-year-old Deantae Moore, and another unknown male got out. Price and the unknown suspect ran off.

17-year-old Eric Lampkin-Scarbrough got out holding a modified handgun with an extended magazine. Seeing him as a threat, Officer Travis Marks, in the Tahoe, fired his weapon, hitting Lampkin-Scarbrough.

Lampkin-Scarbrough ran south through the parking lot, still holding the gun. Officer Timothy Steed fired at him but missed. Lampkin-Scarbrough was eventually caught and given first aid before being taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

Price was also caught and taken to the hospital with chest pain. Moore was arrested near the truck and taken to police headquarters for questioning about a double homicide in March 2024.

The fourth suspect escaped on foot. No officers were injured.

Officers recovered four weapons from the scene: two fell from the truck, one was found where Lampkin-Scarbrough ran, and one was found in the truck.
