Back last fall, we did an article on Colt ARs with dipped patterns on them. One of the comments that came up on the article was, “Hey, have you seen these mag wraps?” What exactly are “mag wraps,” you ask? They are basically just stickers that you can put on your magazine to make them look cooler, or to just have people ask you why you have bikini models on your mags, and isn’t that silly.
So, of course, we asked the company to send us some samples, and they did. Not terrible would be overall take on them. What I thought were going be shrink-wrap sleeves turned out to really be just stickers with cuts in them to bend them to the dimensions of a magazine. What I thought would be actual form-fitting turns out to be just stuck on, and that is pretty much it. The directions say that “if you want them really perfect” kind of thing, you can touch them up with a hair dryer, but I didn’t find that a hair dryer helped all that much. You can warm up the stickers and push your finger nail into the corners and get a cleaner fit. The sticker doesn’t flow down into the grooves of the magazine like a dip or paint job does. The stickers are a good idea, not a great idea, and the execution is amateurish. They aren’t a huge investment, and they do appear to be removable. Might be worth a look if you aren’t picky and you want some oohs and aahs at the range.
Here is are some pictures of our “build,” and an installation video from the company.
Nice, but not much use here in California (and other commie run states).

Sorry Dave. I have not lived in Kalifornia for 35 years. Both my brothers are still there. I was unaware just how draconian the laws have become in your state until I started researching for a planned transfer to a nephew. What a wake up call. Move on out to Arizona. Any law abiding citizen can carry (open or concealed). We basically have one firearms control law, if you carry into a bar, you are not allowed to drink. Keeps it kind of simple. Hope you can keep up the fight and vote the bums out. Best wishes.
If they could make them with a shrink wrap plastic, that would be a more attractive product. Perhaps there is room to actually sell magazines with this on, with or without a trade-in magazine.
Weird, just weird. Thanks for the honest evaluation. And by the way, they cost more than a new mag.
