When it comes to training and tracking improvement, a shot timer stands out as the ultimate training companion. Offering unparalleled accuracy, it is way more precise than a buddy trying to run a stopwatch. While various shot timers have existed for years, Shooters Global has disrupted the scene with its innovative SG Shot Timer. Setting new standards, this timer not only boasts user-friendly features but also introduces groundbreaking capabilities previously unseen in the realm of shot timers. Its intuitive design, illuminated display, water-resistant construction, heightened sensitivity catering to everything from unsuppressed rifles to indoor dry firing, built-in memory, and Bluetooth compatibility for seamless video recording with a linked phone make it a standout choice in the market.

Out of the Box
When purchasing a Shooters Global Shot Timer, it will come with a U-Grip, USB–C Cable, Lanyard, and a Quick Start guide. Since the timer is Bluetooth compatible, it may have software updates from time to time. When I first connected my phone I also updated the software which took just a few minutes.
The U-Grip that Shooters Global uses features a belt clip on one side and a strong magnetic face on the other which secures the shot timer to it. The magnet holds the timer tight, and while Shooters Global says it is “strong enough to hold the timer firm even while jumping and running” I have had it fall off while sprinting. However, the timer is tough and it has held up great.
Originally, the U-Grip was flat and sort of blocked the buzzer. While it was still easy to hear, they made a new and improved version that has a groove that helps project this sound out from the back of the timer.
Cases For the SG Shot Timer
While a case wasn’t originally included with this timer, Shooters Global offers silicon cases for sale on their website. They are available in many color schemes, provide a solid rubber protective layer to most of the housing, and offer a better non-slip surface for holding the timer.
Sensitivity
What I find to be one of the most useful features of the SG Shot timer is the smart sensor used to detect shots. It is highly sensitive and completely adjustable. When shooting a match, the sensitivity can be set close to 100 so it only detects the person running the stage and not the people shooting in the next bay over. Also, this sensitivity can be turned down all the way not only to detect shots from a suppressed 22lr but even the trigger break of dry firing within your own home. Detecting suppressed firearms is already an improvement over any other timers I have tried before, but the ability to use the SG shot timer to dry fire at home is insane.
Within the menu, selecting the caliber being used is simple, with pre-set sensitivity levels from the factory. However, these levels are adjustable, and custom profiles can be added.
Volume
When it comes to shot timers, being able to hear the original beep is essential. While I haven’t had trouble with most timers on the market, I will say the SG shot timer is quite loud beeping at 87 decibels. It is easy to hear even with Foam Ear Pro and works just as it should.
Battery
Another impressive feature of this timer is its battery life.It has a rating to last up to 30 days of day-to-day use. Additionally, I haven’t observed any battery drainage when it is turned off and not in use. Charging options include wireless charging or using a standard USB-C cord.
Display On the SG Shot Timer
The display for the SG shot timer is the best I have ever seen. It features a large 2.6″ screen with 172 pixels per inch. Where other timers have few pixels, this display nearly looks like a phone screen. This capability enables Shooters Global to present a wealth of information on the display, ensuring clear readability.
Notably, the display includes backlighting and a reflective bottom layer, harnessing sunlight to enhance contrast and conserve battery power. Furthermore, the timer incorporates a light sensor, capable of automatically adjusting the backlighting as required for optimal visibility.
Shooters Global Drills App
Among the groundbreaking features of this timer is its Bluetooth connectivity, allowing seamless integration with your phone. By downloading the complimentary Drills mobile app, you can unlock a variety of functionalities for the SG timer beyond your imagination. Record videos with shot data, track your progress, remotely control the timer, engage in competitions, and much more. The app could take multiple reviews to describe, so just go check it out for yourself!

One of my favorite features is the ability to overlay the shot times onto a video. Doing this is straightforward, and the video below demonstrates this exact function. However, you may notice some additional times recorded from shots that weren’t taken; this is attributed to the timer being on my belt and rolling around on the ground. Ideally, the timer should be held by a buddy or set down rather than being rolled around on top of.
Also, another thing worth mentioning is the ability to create stage plans within the app. You can then use AR or augmented reality to walk through them. I’m new to all of this, but as I walk around the room and glance at my phone, I see that the targets set up appear as if they are part of the space I’m in. Below, you can see a stage plan displayed on my coffee table through my phone, captured in the screenshot. I’m still learning all the features, but the SG Shot Timer won’t hold you back.

Why is there rap music in almost every video or commercial? I would much rather not hear peoples bad taste in music over and over again. This seems to me like a very strange Orwellien phenomena.
