Dentist visits are the worst.

A Tennessee man used his concealed firearm earlier this month to shoot an estranged husband who had come to a dental office with the intention of killing his wife.

Larry Seagroves was patronizing David A. Guy Dentistry in Kingsport, Tn., when Harry Weaver, 63, entered from the back of the office and shot his wife, Kelly Weaver, 52, according to a police report. Seagroves then pulled out his own handgun and shot Weaver multiple times.

“A concealed carry permit holder saw the threat, took action on the threat and stood by until officers arrived,” said Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy. “We’re calling him a hero today.”

Kelly Weaver died of her wounds, but Harry Weaver was taken to a nearby hospital where he remained for several days. Upon his release, he was charged with first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

Seagroves has declined media interviews, but a Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office report indicates that after shooting Weaver with a semi-automatic handgun he stood over the suspect until law enforcement arrived. Once deputies ordered him to drop his weapon, he “immediately complied.”

Witnesses at the dentist office said the Weavers were going through a divorce.

Dr. Connie Fulmer, a chiropractor who runs a practice in the same building as the incident, said in a Facebook post that the incident left her shaken.

“I still cringe as memories of yesterday run through my mind. And tears flow,” she said. “I realize yesterday could have been my last day on this earth.”

Tennessee is a “shall issue” state that offers concealed handgun licenses in 8-year and lifetime varieties. Their gun control laws are generally on the less-strict side, though a Tennessee Democratic Party official came under fire during the 2018 election for saying that “white male gun nuts” are the “biggest terrorist organization on the planet.”

Those kinds of comments (combined with other factors, of course) helped Republican Marsha Blackburn beat her Democratic opponent by over five points, maintaining Republican control of Tennessee’s representatives in the Senate.

What a warped, twisted political party/ mentality where Americans must apply to the State to exercise a Constitutional Right. That same party protects Illegal Aliens that attempt to buy a firearm from being turned over to ICE. Sick, twisted, evil, despicable human beings.

All accurate except TN does not have a concealed handgun license, They have a Handgun Carry license that allows one to carry with intent to be armed. It is not against the law to carry concealed or open in TN, only to carry with intent to be armed.
    I will greatly miss Kelly.

As of July 1, 2021 Tennesseans won’t need a permit to carry open or concealed within the states borders. 😃
