WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – June 13, 2023 – Savage Arms is proud to announce Team Savage shooter Matt Alwine’s win this past weekend in Cody, Wyoming. Located on Sheep Mountain, the NRL Hunter Series, “Gunwerks’ Sheep Mountain Shootout” was held from June 9th – 11th. It was here that Alwine took 1st overall, and 1st in open light, at the NRL Hunter Series match.
This particular venue put hunters to the test by challenging them to extreme angles and shots from 160 to 1,110 yards, all while facing the area’s difficult wind conditions and terrain. Alwine nabbed the top spots for Team Savage at the match by shooting a 122 out of 128, making this an impressive win.
This first ever Sheep Mountain Shootout was in a beautiful Wyoming location, where the competition setting was open mountain terrain dotted with sage brush and conifers. Native wildlife for this area includes: Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Black Bear, Wolves, Coyotes, and Prairie Dogs. This new match proved to be an engaging one with beautiful sights, numerous game animals and challenging terrain.

Alwine of Team Savage knocked out the competition using a Savage 110 action and AccuTrigger. Other items on his equipment list included: an MDT HNT-26 Chassis “Mountain Forged Edition”, a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 x 56mm Riflescope, a Without Warning Tuner Muzzle Break, a Proof Research barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor and an MDT Cyke-Pod bipod.
