Taurus TX9 Pistols: Three New Sizes — SHOT Show 2026

in Riley Baxter, SHOT Show 2026

Taurus launches the TX9 pistols, a modular, optics-ready 9mm lineup that includes full-size, compact, and subcompact options. At Shot Show 2026, we investigated what they were all about.

Overview of the Taurus TX9 Line

Taurus has expanded its handgun catalog with the TX9 series, a striker-fired platform built around a modular chassis system. The company designed the lineup to cover duty use, home defense, and concealed carry without forcing shooters to relearn controls by changing the manual of arms up.

Each TX9 model shares the same operating system and general layout, while the overall size changes between models.

The Taurus TX9 product line consists of a full sized, compact, and subcompact. Each is also available in 10 round capacity models for those who live in less fun sates.

The pistols feature polymer frames, steel slides, and optics-ready cuts from the factory. Taurus also leaned into ambidextrous controls.

Left- and right-handed shooters can run the guns without modification or awkward weapon manipulations. Interchangeable backstraps allow basic grip tuning to fit the user’s hands.

The TX9 lineup has ambidextrous controls and a flat faced trigger.

Rather than releasing one do-it-all handgun, Taurus split the TX9 into three sizes. Each version targets a specific role while keeping the same manual of arms.

Taurus Modular System

The Taurus Modular System is similar to what you may be more familiar with as a “fire control group.” This serialized chassis is able to be removed from one TX9 pistol frame and reinstalled in a different one.

Basically, the user can purchase any model plus the pistol framesand/or slides without a background check, and have the whole TX9 lineup.

Why the TX9 Matters

The TX9 lineup shows Taurus focusing on consistency across handgun sizes. They built these handguns for a specific purpose and application in mind. Because of this, they’ve produced a handgun that should be easy to pick up out of the box and use at the range, for CCW, or on the job.

Shooters can move between models depending on what their needs are and expect that there is a gun perfect for the application.

The TX9 doesn’t chase trends aggressively. Instead, it packages modern features into a straightforward system. For shooters who want modularity without complexity, the TX9 series offers a practical new option.
