I got my start in the gun industry doing Glock trigger jobs in the late ’90s. I had a version that broke under 2 pounds using modified stock parts – except the firing pins spring. I have done over 1000 trigger jobs since then. They are now all more or less obsolete thanks to Timney.

The JARD AR Set Trigger can be used as a normal AR trigger with a four-pound pull weight, and it can be “set” for a pull weight of only 13 ounces. I’ve had the chance to use the JARD trigger for a few months now, and I’m loving it.

Since 1911 pistols have been around for over 100 years, it’s not very often that an accessory or new part comes along that makes you say “Wow” or “It’s about time,” but that was exactly my response to the Nighthawk DTS.

While it’s not a perfect, crisp as a Pringle 1911 trigger, it’s close. Very close. For a striker-fired pistol, it’s extraordinarily good. The flat face took me a few rounds to get used to, but when I allowed my finger to rest naturally on the trigger, migrating toward the lower end of the shoe as intended with the resulting increase in leverage, I grew to like it. For the final analysis, I applied the Lyman trigger gauge once more.

Timney has been the top dog in providing quality replacement triggers for more than 71 years and I admit to being a fan. I haven’t taken a survey but I’d be willing to bet that more gunsmiths use Timney triggers than any other brand. They’re just that good. Timney has made another breakthrough in precision triggers with the custom fit of their Calvin Elite.
