I don’t pull any punches with holster makers. It is incredibly easy to heat up some Kydex and bend it around a gun. It is much more difficult to make bent Kydex into a functional holster that you’d trust your life to. It isn’t a half-assed skill. And those of you reading this might be surprised by how many times we’re approached by aspiring holster makers who want to showcase their skills. Let’s just be clear on this point–I turn at least half of them away becasue they’re not ready. And when I need a holster, I go to Multi Holsters first.

BY Dave Higginbotham Published: January 18, 2015 { 91 comments }As AR pistols get smaller and smaller, they loose power. And the blast is hard to handle. The pistol caliber carbines have been slow to catch on, but that’s about to change. CZ’s new 9mm powerhouse, the Scorpion, is epic. It is exceptionally well built, and the price is going to knock you over.
Recover that Beretta m9
BY Dave Higginbotham Published: January 15, 2015 { 6 comments }For me, a pistol without a rail is more or less a novelty. I shoot them at the range, but leave it at that. I won’t carry a full-size pistol if I can’t attach some implement of illumination to its frame. I’m not knocking range guns or older designs for their defects, but I carry guns I can use in low light situations. That’s where ReCover comes in.
A Look at SilencerCo’s Saker 556 Suppressor

Unsuppressed, you can figure the noise level at about 165 decibels, varying, of course with rifle type, barrel length, etc. That’s louder [...]
The Inside Scoop on the New Beretta M9A3
BY Dave Higginbotham Published: December 21, 2014 { 63 comments }With the upcoming Modular Handgun System trials looming, Beretta has made a surprise addition to their M9 family. The M9A3 is an overhauled M9, and it looks like a solid gun. I had the chance to talk to Beretta’s Vice President of Military Marketing and Sales about the new M9A3, and the role Beretta intends for the new gun, and it has nothing to do with the upcoming trials. But the M9A3 just might shake things up.
10 Things to Look For In A SHTF Shotgun
BY Tom McHale Published: December 1, 2014 { 23 comments }I started thinking about my ideal qualities of an SHTF shotgun. You know, when the masses become all cranky and protesty because the Kardashians stopped doing reality TV. While pondering all the ways civilization could end, I came up with a list of ten things I really care about in a save-my-bacon and shoot-my-bacon shotgun.

Talk about versatility….
Sig Sauer’s Single Action Sensation: The P226 Elite SAO
BY Tom McHale Published: September 12, 2014 { 28 comments }The Sig P226 Elite SAO has classic Sig internals – not the hinged recoil action and barrel bushing we’re accustomed to seeing in a 1911. Yet it offers the benefits of a constant, light trigger to aid in accurate shooting. Unlike the 1911, it offers a double stack magazine so you get 15 rounds of ammo, plus an extra in the chamber. Oh yeah, and it’s chambered in 9mm.

The Escort Gladius 20 Gauge for Home Defense
BY Justin Opinion Published: August 1, 2014 { 36 comments }Many experts agree that the 20 gauge is not only sufficient at the distances most likely to be in play in a home defense scenario– many feel it is a better choice than the traditional 12 gauge. The Escort Gladius 20 gauge shotgun is a purpose built defensive weapon, and is well appointed to serve in that role.
