Suppressor

A couple of months earlier, Jones and I were on the phone talking about two of our favorite things–hunting and shooting. Jones told me about a friend with a ranch located in the Texas Hill Country north of San Antonio, and the guy was having problems with hogs and had given Jones an open invitation to come out and kill as many as he wanted.

Available in a direct thread or QC set up, we opted to test the direct thread. The can features a completely toolless takedown, though it has wrench flats on the cap. Not that any of us would ever neglect maintenance so long as to need those. The user serviceable part of this cannot be overstated.

Today was the first time I got to test the new Ruger 10/22 with the Silent-SR ISB, or Integrally Suppressed Barrel. The lines look like a double barrel gun, but the bottom half is actually a baffle stack. A one-piece barrel and suppressor, it fits any 10/22 takedown model as a replacement. It is one of the most well thought out rimfire suppressors I have seen, Ruger hit it out of the park this time.

The new for 2017 Armageddon Gear Suppressor Cover models can withstand sustained semi-auto fire. They are specifically rated to 800 degrees. I’m running titanium suppressors and don’t want to ever get my suppressors or barrels that hot. If you are doing full auto mag dumps then you’ll likely exceed that temperature and this probably isn’t the suppressor cover for you.

Over the last 9 months of testing, the SIG MCX VIRTUS has proven to be a very reliable and useful weapon. In its 5.56 configurations, we saw it run in all weather conditions over the winter, a 2000 rounds suppressed test and many other shenanigans. The most impressive part to me was that we had a multi-configurable rifle, that consistently shot ½ MOA groups. This week, we finally got the long awaited 300 AAC barrel.
