I liked the Steyr L9-A1 better than I thought I would. It felt good in the hand and once I got accustomed to the grip angle it was easy to shoot.

The Steyr firm can trace its roots back to the mid-1860s, in Steyr, Austria, and they’ve always prided themselves on producing rifles that have been on the cutting edge of technology. Their Pro Hunter is no exception, being a reliable, if futuristic-looking, bolt-action repeater that is designed to take the worst the elements can throw at it.

Jeff Cooper began experimenting with carbines as early as the mid-1960s. His work with these reduced rifles led to his conceptualized solution to the one rifle question—Steyr’s Scout Rifle. What is very often overlooked is the practical application and friendliness of the rifle Cooper was trying to create.

Although the Steyr AUG’s design is over 40 years old, its innovative design and futuristic looks are almost timeless and would not look too out of place in the hands of a sci-fi star trooper. Looks aside, the AUG continues to define the bullpup rifle.

The Steyr Hahn, or more commonly known as the “Hammer,” is a semi-automatic, stripper clip fed pistol chambered in 9mm Steyr which was introduced in 1911. A large number of the M1912 were rechambered for 9x19mm after the German annexation of Austria in 1938. This gun has a lot of history, and is a blast to shoot.
