Often when I travel, the gun I carry concealed is the only one I have. Ever had someone at your hotel room door, convinced they were at the right room? I have, and not cool. That’s why I carry a gun that I can actually shoot–The Springfield Armory XD-S.

If you are a fan of the 1911 and have not checked out Springfield’s Range Officer line you owe it to yourself to do so. I have come to the conclusion that the standard Range Officer is just about the best bang for your buck in the target shooting 1911 world there is. The ROs have one of the best off the shelf slide to frame fits I have seen on a non-custom pistol.

Fans of the 9mm 1911 have a new option. Springfield Armory has a 4″ Champion version of their purpose-built 9mm EMP that is ideal for those who want the most from their daily carry pistol.
