Many American kids had fun playing with cowboy-style toy guns, and for many of those kids, the Ruger Single-Six was the first handgun they ever used and it was a dream come true. Kimber makes a fine hammerless revolver, but this year they’ve modified their K6s to include a double-action/single-action trigger. It comes with a 3″ or 2″ barrel and a 6-shot cylinder. The gun is all steel and it looks terrific. It’s got a recessed cylinder so it works with their speedloader. But it’s simple design also makes it shoot like a dream.

The favored Black Widow got an update as the True Black Widow. The 17-4 stainless steel frame now features a flat black PVD coating to match the grips and deadly hourglass.

Thirty or so years ago, the revolver was the predominant self-defense handgun. Though many still carry a revolver today, competency in the manipulation of wheel guns for self-defense is, if not a lost art, a skill that most revolver carriers lack. And not knowing how to run a revolver can get you or a loved one killed or injured.

The Off Duty is a classic snub-nosed revolver. It does very well as a primary concealed carry gun for anyone wishing to carry something small, lightweight, reliable and effective.

Kimber America, however, seems like the most unlikely company to be in the revolver market. Yes, the same Kimber famous for their 1911s.
