Red Dot

Aimpoint’s new CompM5b 2 MOA, released November 2019, is now available for worldwide purchase. The CompM5b is a lightweight rugged red dot that allows users to quickly adjust the reticle to compensate for ballistic drop at multiple distances.

As of late, there are so many options for red dot sights on the market. Some see this as a bad thing, but I really enjoy the huge selection that is available when shopping for an electronic sight. Crimson Trace adds to these options with their new line of electronic optics and I had the privilege to test out the CTS-1000.

The Sig Sauer ROMEO5 compact red dot is the perfect balance between lightweight and small while maintaining a large field of view and strength due to its sealed design. This optic is perfect for self-defense situations and range visits alike.

WIth reasonable prices and good results, these are hard to beat. Buy both and a case of ammo, and you’ll likely have gas money for the range left over.

I didn’t think I needed anything new from Aimpoint. My old stuff still works perfectly. But then I met the Comp M5 and suddenly it was time for an upgrade.

Vortex’s new contender in the 1X arena isn’t even a true vintage style Red-Dot sight at all. It is actually a small one power prismatic scope. It isn’t dependent on shining LEDs, lasers, or fiber optic transmitted light upon a lens to create an aiming point. It has an etched reticle that is present without artificial illumination, though it does have supplemental illumination to aid in low lighting conditions.

For years Trijicon’s Miniature Rifle Optic has maintained the gold standard in red dots, but that hasn’t stopped the company from working to improve its legendary design.
