Gun thieves were undeterred by Connecticut’s strict gun laws and crashed a stolen car into a gun store in order to steal firearms.

New York City is up there with Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Chicago in the race for anti-gun capital of the U.S. Yet, despite, rather, because of the Big Apple’s draconian gun laws, gun-related crime is out of control.

According to a recent Rasmussen survey the vast majority of Americans — 68 percent — prefer to live in neighborhoods were guns are allowed as opposed to 22 percent who would prefer to live in a gun free zone and 10 percent who were unsure.

“The law thus burdens their right to self-defense at the times they are most vulnerable – when they are sleeping, bathing, changing clothes, or otherwise indisposed,” wrote justice Thomas. “There is consequently no question that San Francisco’s law burdens the core of the Second Amendment right.”

Federal lawmakers proposed a new piece of legislation Thursday that, if passed, would impose stringent handgun restrictions across all 50 states.

“This is one of the most important pieces of reform legislation that the firearms and ammunition industry has seen come before Congress in recent years,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “We applaud Rep. Bishop for his support of this legislation and of the Second Amendment, and we urge other members of Congress to co-sponsor this bill.”

“This session has been an alarming show of politicking that caters to a gun lobby agenda,” said Sandy Chasse with the Texas Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “As a gun-owning Texas mom, this is not the Texas I want for my family or community.”
