A recent case out of Atlanta is a loud, flashing reminder of a hard truth for gun owners: you can’t shoot someone over stolen packages.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attack as “an act of pure evil” and quickly signaled that new firearm restrictions are coming.

According to research compiled by John R. Lott Jr., president of the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), the evidence does not support that conclusion.

During the attack, video footage captured a civilian in white clothing sprinting toward one of the gunmen, tackling him, and wrestling what appeared to be a shotgun from his hands.

“Nobody needs government permission to exercise a right,” he said.

That should have been the end. Instead, prosecutors charged him with multiple counts of murder and unlawful use of a weapon, arguing he “could have just left.”

“We have more guns in this country than we have humans. So one of the things that is going to be important is to create a registry so we know where the guns are.”

The money will fund a national project called “Armed with Knowledge: A Nonpartisan Second Amendment Initiative.”

The decision to debank firearm businesses was not an issue of credit worthiness or sustainable business models. It was all political. And intentional.
