Gun-related crime is spiking in New Zealand a full two years after the country instituted a nationwide ban on most semi-automatic firearms.

The bills would be far-reaching, expanding the failed 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, also written by Sen. Feinstein.

“This is the moment to act on gun safety, and that starts with background checks on all guns sales,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.

“Our Second Amendment is very clear: The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed,” Gianforte said at the bill’s signing ceremony. “Every law-abiding Montanan should be able to defend themselves and their loved ones.”

Citing the threat of “white supremacy,” three U.S. senators are urging president Joe Biden to use executive action to close what they call the “ghost gun loophole.”

The Connecticut state legislature is considering expanding the state’s “red flag” law to allow family members and “medical professionals” to the list of people who can request that a judge confiscate a person’s firearms.

“Illinois was the last state in the country to establish a licensed concealed carry program because we sued them in federal court and won,” SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb recalled.
