Michigan lawmakers – including Gov. Gretchen Whitmer – are toying with the idea of turning state courtrooms into political arenas for gun control instead of forcing criminals to stand before judges for their crimes.

The lawsuit, named Hartford v. Ferguson, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

The chaos all started when 20-year-old Samuel Fowlkes approached the protesters, who belong to an organization known as Protect Texas Kids, and allegedly pepper-sprayed them.

A would-be robber was shot last week when an armed citizen stopped to help.
