Long Range Shooting

SHOT Show 2018 has just under 2,000 vendors on site this year, so there’s lots of new long-range shooting gear to see. Better yet, the Range Day outing Monday before the show opens has a 1,000-yard range where some vendors provide the opportunity to try new guns, ammo, and gear. Here are some of the interesting long-range shooting products we found this year.

RISE Armament, traditionally known for their awesome drop-in triggers premiered their new T121XR rifle at the 2018 SHOT Show Range Day. Building upon the success of the .308 Winchester 1121XR Precision Rifle, the T121XR is an AR-10 patterned rifle that is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Ritter & Stark guarantee these rifles to be capable of .5 MOA accuracy. The MSRP of the SLX is $3,635, which at first would appear to be expensive, but when compared to similar European rifles is pretty reasonable.

Two standout new products include the KRG Bravo and the MiniAction Chassis Rifle. Announced late last year these guns represent the next generation of bolt-action rifles.

If you haven’t heard about the newest Federal premium round, you may be living under a rock. Released in December of 2017, the .224 Valkeryie is slowly gaining traction with long-range precision shooters. The cartridge is based on an .30 Remington/6.8 SPC case. The cartridge will work in your typical bolt-action rifle but it will also work in an AR.

Remington is announcing a new Model 700 bolt-action rifle with a custom-style modular precision chassis chambered for .260 Remington, 6.5mm Creedmoor and .308 Winchester.

Ruger is in a hurry to get 2018 started off right with a solid set of new additions to their catalog, from casual plinkers to hard-hitters.

A team of Russian shooters claims it broke the long range world record, shooting a 1-meter target at 4,604 yards or approximately 2.6 miles away!
