Kimber announced this week that it has finalized plans to expand manufacturing operations to Alabama.

Kimber has built a brand name that for many gun buyers in America is simply synonymous with top quality firearms. From its long guns to the many variations of 1911s, on down to the subcompact self-defense pistols — choosing a Kimber means taking a look at what is on the top shelf and telling the clerk, “I’d like to try that one, please.”

For several years, gun writers ignored revolvers. This is reasonable because there has been a renaissance of creativity in firearms design in this same period. There has been a steady, but declining market for wheelguns, but the surge of interest in defensive concealed carry has brought new interest to these simple and reliable guns.

Kimber has expanded its popular K6s revolver product line to include three new models, the K6s Deep Cover (DC), K6s Custom Defense Package (CDP) and the K6s Stainless 3″.

They stand behind you in the checkout line of the grocery store. They stroll past as you walk to your car after work. These people are concealed carry proponents and they are armed while still appearing to be just another face in the crowd. They have mastered hiding in plain sight.

Kimber turned its sights on the .380 concept with the Micro CDP and an entire Micro .380 line. Looking like a highly refined Colt Mustang (exactly what it is, just like the Sig Sauer P238 Series) with a standard capacity of 6 +1 the .380 ACP Micro series left Kimber with one remaining challenge and in 2016 Kimber took the next logical step by introducing a slightly larger Micro variation chambered in 9mm.

Many people simply are unwilling or unable to carry a full-size gun on a daily basis. In fact many people want the smallest frame gun they can get. With that information, we are able to narrow our search. In fact, once we narrow it down that far, there is one gun that seems to fit the bill quite well; the Kimber Micro CDP chambered in .380.

New for 2017 is Kimber’s Subalpine Mountain Rifle, available with a Gore Optifade camo finish. Kimber also teamed up with Leupold to make matching scopes.
